It’s beautiful! Loved kayaking on muddy creek—highly recommend! Close to Dismal Swamp, though we actually liked kayaking from muddy creek better (and walking around Dismal Swamp) than kayaking on the Dismal Swamp canal. Cabin is clean, beautiful and organized, with comfortable bed, plush towels, and more. Great getaway. Roberta and Frank were so helpful and responsive.
Even more beautiful than the photos! The space was fresh, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The beautiful view of the water out the back windows was nice to wake up to from bed. Really enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the water, too! Roberta was responsive and left helpful instructions. We were a bit surprised by how remote it was, so suggest picking up groceries on the way in, but once there it was nice to have a low-key, quiet weekend with a beautiful backdrop.
Roberta and Frank were great hosts, very responsive and helpful. The space was just as described, very clean and bright, beautiful amenities. The area was very quiet and private. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who would like to experience the Inner Banks area of North Carolina.

All we can say is wow. This place went above and beyond all our expectations — Exquisitely clean. Kitchen was well-stocked (spices, utensils, ziplocks, pans etc). The provided shower soaps and coffee were a useful touch. Cute porch with a swing and gorgeous view. Comfortable bed and pillows. Easy to find location with a lit sign and walkway lights. Clear instructions. Communicative, proactive host. Our only regret is staying just long enough for a full night’s rest! Would have loved to sit on the porch for a few hours with a cup of coffee and take the kayaks out! The affordability was a blessing too. We would definitely stay again! (P.S. our kiddo loved the friendly outdoor kitty).

Rural country setting. The cottage sits next to the home of the cottage's hosts. The Perquimans River and Albemarle Sound are within view from the cottage's property and Muddy Creek is in the backyard of the cottage.
Parking is free and there is space available for trailers, if needed. The Cottage at Muddy Creek is located on a private paved road that comes off the main road. There is plenty of space for parking and going for walks without having to worry about traffic. There is a boat access off of the private road for small water vessels since some areas of Muddy Creek can be as shallow as 1 to 2 feet.

Roberta and Frank have been married for 25 years and are natives of Eastern North Carolina. We built "The Cottage at Muddy Creek" in 2023 for our guests to enjoy the beauty of Perquimans County.
