Dursley · 农家仓房 · 2室0床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Granary Barn at Downhouse Farm
Granary Barn is newly renovated and full of character with some beautifully preserved original features, including an arrow slit window, exposed beams and retained parts of the mechanism used to mill the grain. It is nestled right on the farm, looking out across the fields to the pigs rooting around and in warmer months, the sheep and lambs grazing just beyond the patio. Sleeping up to four guests in two bedrooms it is perfect for a family farm holiday or a romantic rural escape in nature. Granary Barn has a spacious open plan living and kitchen area. It is well equipped with everything you need to cater for your stay. In the kitchen there is a mid-height oven, induction hobs, a dishwasher, washing machine, an under-counter fridge with small freezer compartment and a dining table to seat four. A doorway from the kitchen opens out on to a patio where in the spring and summer months you can relax and enjoy the sheep grazing just beyond. The living area has a comfy three seater sofa, tub chair and a smart television where you can unwind. A large fully glazed entrance way makes this is a lovely light and bright space to enjoy. The main bedroom is decorated with tasteful blue and gold tones. It has zip and link beds that can be configured as two singles or combined to a super king. There is a three-drawer chest of drawers, a hanging rack and full length mirror. The dimmable lighting and touch bedside lamps give it a warm vibe. The second bedroom is decorated in warm grey and ochre colours and can be made as a single room or turned into a twin by including a guest bed. The guest bed is a low bed, just slightly smaller than a standard single, with a comfortable pocket sprung mattress to give a good night’s sleep. Alternatively alongside the single bed there is plenty of space to pop up a travel cot, which we can supply on request. There is an open wardrobe to give hanging and storage space. If children are staying then games and books are supplied to help keep the little ones entertained. The generously sized bathroom has a modern contemporary feel with grey colours and contrasting sleek black tap, showers and fittings. The walk in wet room, offers flexibility with both a luxury rainfall shower and a adjustable shower head on a riser bar. Granary Barn is approached via a tarmac drive and there is space to park a couple of cars right in front of the barn, for ease of unpacking on arrival. There is an Electric Vehicle (EV) charger (additional charges apply). The barn is set within a fenced garden and although enclosed, we cannot guarantee it is secure for all dogs.
Granary Barn is set in a beautiful location, surrounded by fields and farm life. It was very peaceful and the barn itself was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. It felt like a home from home. Our two labradoodles had the best time exploring in the enclosed grounds and watching the lambs play.
Perfect stay, all new so very spoilt. Kate was amazing throughout. To help with others staying as property was new only a few tips perhaps that we noticed especially as we had a dog. To try and keep the property clean artificial grass would benefit. Has a washing machine - be good to have a dryer, ironing board? There is a rotary line if the weather is good. No radiators so wet towels/clothes can be a challenge to get dry - small clothes hanger available though. A hose pipe would be useful for cleaning wellies and dogs 😉 however the bathroom is amazing. Shoe horn for getting wellies off outside? Also sleeps three comfortably but not sure how it sleeps four? There was only three of us and a dog so it was spot on but lists sleeps up to four. Beds very comfortable. Very modern and would happily stay again, perhaps another chair/sofa would make it even more comfortable in the evenings. Views and walks were amazing and so much choice. Thank you again!
We are in a beautiful rural setting, located just minutes walk from the Cotswold Way. It's a perfect base for both short walks or a more challenging hike.
There are so many things to see and do locally, from taking the family to visit the oldest inhabited castle in England, getting close to nature at our local WWT wetland reserve or letting the kids go wild at the Cattle Country Adventure Park. Or you can take a drive to surrounding cities, like the historic City of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the City of Bristol with its iconic street art and stunning suspension bridge.
The historic market town of Dursley is approximately 1 mile away in a wooded valley, and hosts a variety of independent shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Ideal to pop out to for a spot of brunch or dinner, to stock up on some essentials, or to relax in the charming CAMRA pub for a pint in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The town of Dursley is approximately 1 mile away and is a lovely walk. The nearest train station is Cam and Dursley (2.7 miles away) with direct services to Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester. Dursley Bus Station (1.3 miles away) runs services to destinations including Stroud, Gloucester and Bristol. There are local taxi companies which we can recommend to get you around should you not have a car.
