Amazing tent and set up. Comfy bed, two fans, nice shower. We felt very well looked after with breakfast, dinner and inclusive safari package. As expected a lot of mosquitos maybe could have done with mosquito netting around bed. We chose to pay 44USD more for the private safari jeep and 15usd for guide which wasn’t worth it in hindsight - simply joined the group tours at the back and guide spoke no English just drove the car. Unfortunately didn’t see any leopards. But did see a crocodile and elephant.
We had a wonderful time glamping here and felt right at home. The atmosphere on the campsite was lovely. All the staff members were very nice and organised a great safari for us. We chose the morning safari and were pleasantly surprised that the park was not crowded at all and we could enjoy our time near a lot of animals in peace and silence. The camp manager Travis was especially helpful and kind. He made sure our dietary preferences were met. I forgot my headphones in the tent at check out so he mailed them to our hotel and even called to make sure they arrived safely. Special thanks for this! Thank you for all your efforts, we will come back for sure!
We loved our time at Yala national park! The team at big game camps helped us organize a Yala and Udawalawe experience where they even supported a transfer between the camps. We had such a wonderful experience and can't wait to come back! The team at the Yala camp is incredible and took care of our every need!
We are lactated in a mini nature reserve bordering the Yala park boundary with very easy access to the Yala National Park entrance with only a 20 minute drive. You can easily enlist for a morning safari or an evening safari done by us.
There are plenty of birds and animal
species you can see by doing a walk in the premises itself or along the border. You can do this on your own or with a resident naturlaist.
If you are an eager explorer by foot , there is an extremely beautiful lake you should go to spend your late afternoon to watch the sunset.
Ancient Sithulpawwa Temple is an highlight in the neighbourhood which you could explore by hiring a jeep. As the road to the temple is going through the Yala Park , it’s a rewarding journey ; wildlife wise too.
Lunugamwehera National Park is another leopard hotspot to go to if you are keen to have a peaceful safari away from the crowds.
Katharagama Hindu Temple and the Kiri Wehera Buddhist Temple are the two main cultural highlights in the neighbourhood. Taking part in an evening Pooja will be a memory you will have life
Where ever you want to explore , you can do the same on foot or by hiring a Tuk Tuk or in a jeep. Tuks and Jeeps are freely available to hire.

It gives me great pleasure that you are reading this page , as most probably you are interested in booking an “Experiential Space” under the Eco Team Group , founded by me. Though I may not be there to welcome each one of you personally, my able team will take care of you the same as me or even better . . It’s high time that we, as the key tourism industry stakeholders, understand our responsibility when it comes to creating accommodation and expenses. We should not limit our creativity and only flock to where everyone else is going. We should have the courage, creativity and grit to go to places that seldom others go to and create a successful, creative and sustainable Tourism Experience. This is exactly what I have done with the experiential living spaces I have created under the Eco Team Group. If you like to know more about me please continue to read . . . Before founding the Eco Team group – an Organisation which has grown to become the most diversified niche tourism specialist group in Sri Lanka – my life wasn’t always about thrill and adventure. Prior to finding my calling in life, I worked as a Trainee Executive in a leading insurance company and rose to the ranks of Sales Manager. My typical career path back in the late ‘90s included everything from Water Cooler Talks to Sales Calls. It wasn’t a walk in the park – in both aspects – but the hardships made the success of today all the more sweeter. Eco Team comprises ten niche, award-winning tourism brands, renowned for Specialised Accommodation / Experience-based In-bound Tourism, MICE, and Eco & Adventure Tourism. My journey simply started with an idea that wasn’t present in Sri Lanka. I set out to pioneer Mobile Tented Safari Camps in Sri Lanka, with the introduction of the revolutionary Mahoora Luxury Safari Camps in 1998. To expand and move to other areas of adventures, and to set up camps in other wildlife locations, Eco Team was established 2 years later. In a fortuitous series of firsts, Mahoora Luxury Safari Camps is not only the ultimate luxury tented camp brand in the country, it’s also the first ever mobile tented luxury safari camp in the world to be completely carbon neutral. When I created Ahaspokuna Bushwalks Camp in 2017, it was the first ever bushwalks camp in Sri Lanka. From its inception to what it is today, sustainability has been and will always be at the heart of both ventures. While Eco Team was blooming, I teamed up with extremely talented individuals from Sri Lanka and overseas and established two Destination Management Companies in Sri Lanka – Encounters Asia and Experiential Journeys, to cater to high-end experiential travel and mid-range local experience-based travel respectively. In 2001 I became one of the three pioneers in Sri Lanka to establish experience-based corporate training. Growing from this experience, I started Beyond Boundaries Global (Pvt) Ltd. Shortly after the business took flight, it became the most sought after, innovative, and unconventional MICE operator and experience-based Team Building and Leadership Training outfit in the country. Today as the Founder and President of the Sri Lanka Wilderness Foundation, I have taken my passion for environmental conservation and sustainability to a nationwide platform. I serve as a consultant and a panellist to the Private, NGO and Government sectors, including The Ministry of Tourism, on various niche tourism initiatives.
