Tariq’s house boat is very nice with a spacious bedroom. The location is ideal as it’s not on the lake edge so it’s more peaceful, but not too far away by boat (which he can arrange) if needed. The seating area out the front to relax and watch the daily activities of locals is great. He is a friendly guy who will have a chat and recommend local activities and even provide tips for other parts of Kashmir. He arranged a 2 hour boat trip through the canals and open lake at a good rate for us.

Tariq was always responsive and made arrangements for a shikara to drop and pick up from Ghat No. 7 everytime we wanted to move out for meals/shopping/leisure. The best thing was continuous availability of hot water even though Srinagar has frequent power cuts in day as well as night. We request Tariq to install inverter during power cuts so that the room lights are still ON In a nutshell the stay was as expected (we were lucky enough as there was no other guest sharing the houseboat)

Tariq & his family, made me feel like part of the family. The boat is ideally moored far enough away not to hear the traffic but near enough that you can quickly & easily get to the main land. The sounds of the praying vibrating through the lake was magical.
