Shantidham stands true to its name. I had come to Gokarna before but this place took my experience to another level. Warm hosts, a serene view, delicious food and a cozy room. The highlight of the stay were their pet dogs - Charlie and Shanti. Never saw a dog as affectionate, friendly, intelligent and guarding all at once! Will definitely remember this place for Charlie. Also, we were lucky enough to spot many dolphins swimming in the sea right in front while we had breakfast. What more could we ask for.

Excellent place in the proximity of lovely Om Beach. Its location is great because with a short walk (3 minutes) you reach the main beach but at the same time it is more secluded (and therefore much more peaceful for night sleep) than the options you'll find right on the beach. I've eaten indian food at their restaurant for breakfasts and dinners, never disappointed. Staff is hospitable and helps you plan your time in the area. Private cottages are very good, mine had a balcony with wonderful sea views and each one benefits from the coolness of the tree canopy. To reach Om Beach from Gokarna train station an autorickshaw (shared or private) should charge not more than 400 rupees, more if you come when it is dark.
