We really enjoyed our stay at Doru’s place. Everything from the cleanliness to the hospitality was perfect. The boat tour they offered us definitely was the highlight of our stay. It was a small boat (meaning the group size was limited) and the route was well-chosen. We could see a lot of birds! Alma also gave us valuable tips about what to do in the area. All in all we can only recommend this place!

Doru, his wife and his daughter Alma made us feel welcome from the moment we first stepped through their gate into a wonderful courtyard with thatched roof houses either side. Based from Plopu, a quiet and unspoiled village facing the serene Delta countryside (where Doru's place is the only guesthouse in the whole village), we were able to experience the nature and wildlife in a unique way. We trusted Doru to show us around the delta in one of the family boats and as it turns out he is one of the most knowledgeable guides whose biggest reason to do what he does is his genuine love for nature and wildlife. We started early in the morning (not before a hearty Romanian breakfast made with local produce) and were on the water in time to see dozens of bird species, which Doru knew so much about. Dinner at their place was also the best food we had during our stay in Romania, food was simply catch-of-the-day with few but very fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Doru and Alma were very friendly and attentive and we had great conversation about life in the delta. Words are not enough to recommend this place--it is the best place for those looking to truly immerse themselves in the quiet and peace of nature in the Danube Delta among a lovely local family.

Une belle maison très propre et bien aménagée. Je recommande les petits déjeuners et la balade dans les canaux, vraiment complète et intéressante. Prévoir de l'anti-moustique car il y en a beaucoup à l'extérieur ! (même si les chambres sont parfaitement protégées).

Très bon séjour chez Doru ! Le cottage est propre et calme. Doru et sa famille sont très gentils, ils ont su nous conseillés dans nos choix de visite dans le delta. Et Doru nous as fait une visite superbe du Delta sur son bateau. Si je reviens au delta, je reprendrais chez eux pour sûr. Très bon Airbnb, je recommande :)

I guess, we stayed in the best place in the Delta. The rooms were tidy, the garden green and the breakfast rich. The kids loved to play around with the cats and dogs and did’nt want to leave the place. We booked the boatstour and Doru was a great guide who really knew about the birds and the environment.
