It is also known as the island town, as the old town, which is well worth seeing, is surrounded by Lake Fleesensee and Lake Malchow. It is connected to the other parts of the town by an earth dam and a listed swing bridge, which opens several times a day for boat traffic. There are also passenger boats, a harbor, restaurants, cafés and shopping facilities here. Other attractions include the monastery church and the town mill.
