Overall, our stay was satisfactory, and the location was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the bar and the live music on Fridays. However, we had a minor issue when we arrived late at night and had to wait for about 20 minutes since no one was available at the front desk.
Aloft from the front desk staff, live music, location and the ambiance is great. The room had a noticeable cigarette smell lingering in and around the bathroom area. The water pressure in both sink and shower could be better. The rug had noticeable spots and just in general looked dirty. The window was stained brown and the view was non-existent you see walls and the backside of other buildings.
We do an annual birthday trip to Chicago, and this will be our hotel moving forward. The location was fabulous (two blocks from Michigan Ave), with many places to shop, eat, drink, sightsee, and relax. The staff was terrific. I appreciate how pleasant and willing to please every member of the Aloft team (from the front desk individuals to housekeeping) was. The DJ in the lobby was playing music, and everyone was having a great time, which was refreshing to witness. My only complaint was that the room phone didn't work.
