Best place to stay in south Iceland. Only 8 minutes from the town of Hvolsvöllur and 50 minutes from the town of Vík. You’ll love my place because of It´s in the country side, it´s private and has a grate mountain view.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids). Hekla apartment: Beautiful and family friendly home in Vestur Landeyjar, near Hvolsvöllur. The house is only 105 km away from Reykjavík. The apartment is 45sqm and houses 4 people. The apartment is private and quiet, a wonderful place to relax. If you are looking for a place where you will have a good chance of seeing the northern light´s this is the place. But keep in mind the northern light´s are always based on clouds and aurora forecast. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, a spacious and open living room/kitchen, a bathroom with a shower. One bedroom has one queen bed and the other one a bunk bed. Fully equipped kitchen with cooler, stove, oven/microwave, coffeemaker, kettle and a toaster. Cutlery for 4 people. This apartment is perfect for both winter and summer holidays. Surroundings: Hekla apartment has a great view in all directions, including Vestmannaeyjar, Eyjafjallajökull volcano and Hekla volcano. It‘s a great place to see the northern lights during winter, bird life is in abundance and horses can be seen at every farm. Hekla apartment is well placed for visiting most of the attractions in the south of Iceland, such as Gullfoss, Geysir, Þórsmörk, Seljalandsfoss, Skógarfoss, Westmannaeyjar, Landmannalaugar, Sólheimajökul, the crashed plane, Dyrhólaey, Reynisfjöru and Vík. There are two great golf courses close by, popular salmon rivers and all kinds of activities close by. Stores, gas stations, swimming pool, liquer store, restaurants, police and healthcare can be found in Hvolsvöllur, which is only 10 minutes away by car.
