A beautiful, tranquil cabin with friendly and caring hosts
It was a return trip to the cabin and it felt like coming home. Jo and Steve were wonderful hosts. It rained during our stay so we cooked and eat in and the kitchen had everything we needed. It’s the perfect getaway spot.
Jo and Steve are immaculate hosts! They are extremely friendly and welcomed us with their pup Hass. I seriously have never felt more welcome at an Airbnb! The cabin was so thoughtful and perfectly stocked with everything you need including board games, books and magazines. There was even banana bread and fresh apples waiting for us — how cute!
Beautiful location, rustic comfortable cabin, terrific value. It's a winner! Hosts are incredibly welcoming and helpful.
Steve and Jo greeted us in person and gave us great recommendations. We appreciated the quiet setting and felt well rested after visiting for the weekend. It was a lovely weekend away.

Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill." Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandfather, Swan Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, working on the railroad (same railroad that is on the south end of the farm).and found this farm and felt it was similar to that of his home country, Sweden. He purchased the land. He then married Johanna Swenson and they, together raised their family here . Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this area and the community became to be known as the Swedish Hills. Because the farm has been in the same family lineage, we just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating our sesquicentennial anniversary. The farm has a unique heritage and geography being so close to Lake Michigan, Indiana Dunes and the largest apple orchard in Indiana, Garwood Orchard. We invite you to come and share the unique area in Northwest Indiana.
