Welcome to The Coop! Nestled in a wooded mountain community, this rustic hen house has been lovingly transformed to offer a unique off-the-grid experience. Within 2 miles of both the Appalachian Trail & wineries, The Coop blends rural charm with modern comforts through solar-powered amenities, fresh linens, telescope stargazing & a secluded fire pit. While there haven't been hens at The Coop in decades, guests are welcome to enjoy their fresh eggs & visit them living happily across the street! What a gem tucked in a beautiful area of Virginia. The Coop is a great little hideaway in a quiet residential area. Lots of private space and nature. Chris has thought of all the extras like the telescope and fire pit, spring water, fresh farm eggs, solar lights and lanterns. We didn’t need the radiant heat but that was available as well as a generator. The kitchen had a small portable burner cooking unit that connects to small propane tank (bring your own) which I was able to use to boil water for coffee and tea, and make fresh eggs. Outdoor toilet and shower are a nice add on with lots of privacy. Clean linens and towels and lots of blankets were available. We only stayed for one night and didn’t have a chance to explore the area but I saw lots of wineries and farm tours on my drive, tempting me to want to stay longer and explore. Chris will give you a list of the good places to visit. Chris was super friendly and helpful! Thanks! I’ll be back!
We got to be Chris’ first guests! The place was rustic, charming, and comfy! Matched the description perfectly. The bunk beds were comfortable and he even surprised us with a bottle of wine! Chris was a great host and answered all of our questions/was super responsive. :)
