You can start hikes from home, for example to the waterfalls or to Porcieda and if you want to go higher into the mountains, take the gondola 'Fuente De' (about 20 minutes by car). In Liebana and the Picos you can practice almost all mountain sports you can think of. But you can also take a stroll to the center of the village in 10 minutes with all the terraces, shops and restaurants. That's the unique thing about this place.

By car:
The advantage of having your own car is that you can combine your holiday in Potes with, for example, a nice coastal town.
I recommend to arrive at the finca with daylight, especially if it's your first time. The last part of your journey takes longer because you drive through the mountains. The last hour you drive straight through the La Hermida gorge (gorgeous!). The last 500 meters to the finca you drive on a narrow road where it is also nice if you have good light.
To fly:
Santander is an hour closer, but Bilbao is a great city so it is also nice to stay there for a few days. From Bilbao it is a two and a half hour drive to Potes.
Car rental:
In Bilbao you can easily rent a car from the airport or from the center. Enough providers. The prices depend very much on the season and whether you take out insurance.
Bus:
There are buses from Bilbao via Santander and other coastal towns to Potes, but the journey takes 4 hours. The bus station is at Plaza La Serna. From there it is a pleasant 15 minute walk to the finca.
