A four-bedroom, two-bathroom independent house ideal for couples or families sharing. Located on a two and half hectare (six acre) estate. La Genestière has its own enclosed garden, private pool, and sun terrace. It is a rural retreat, well-placed for those who enjoy cycling, walking, food and wine, and simply relaxing. Situated between the old Roman towns of Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine, La Genestière is a quiet retreat which can serve as a base from which to enjoy what this diverse region has to offer. Highlights include wine and gastronomy, culture and heritage, music, art and photography, walking and cycling. The origins of our estate, can be traced back to the fifteenth century. It once belonged to Diane de Poitiers, who for 20 years was the influential lover of the French King Henri II, while he was married to Catherine de Medici. The estate comprises olive trees and orchards, woodland with truffle oaks, an historic Provençal farmhouse, and a detached villa that has been equipped so that it can be rented separately as a tranquil and sunny Provençal holiday home available for eight to ten people. The property is entered via a 30m2 elevated south-facing sun terrace. This opens onto a large open-plan living area. Four bedrooms provide accommodation for eight people, and a sofa bed offers the possibility of accommodating an additional two guests. Two hallways each provide access to two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a WC. The symmetrical arrangement of rooms means that the house is well-suited to two families sharing. A wood-burning stove provides a focal point outside of the summer months. At your disposal is a smart TV, a HiFi system, WiFi and ADSL internet, barbecues, table tennis, football, darts, books and games.

Logement très agréable. idéal pour notre week-end familial ! Ajoutez à cela l'huile d olive maison, les conseils pratiques, l accueil chaleureux... Vraiment top. ... et nous reviendrons avec plaisir profitez de ce lieu avec on l espère une meilleure météo 😉
Le logement était à la hauteur de nos attentes. Espace parfait pour 4 couples. ( voir 5 avec le canapé). On ne se marche pas sur les pieds et c’est très agréable . L’emplacement est parfait dans cette très belle région. Nous y reviendrons à une autre saison pour pouvoir profiter de la piscine et des extérieurs. Les petites attentions de nos hôtes à notre arrivée étaient fortes sympathiques. Merci à eux

Sue and Richard have a lovely location and a very tranquil and well-equipped property. The private pool means it is great for families, it would also work well for people looking to explore the local area of great walking, vineyards, food etc.
Nous sommes restés une semaine chez Sue et Richard. L’endroit est parfait pour passer un agréable moment au soleil. Le logement est très pratique et parfait pour des vacances ensoleillés. Sue et Richard sont très accueillants, prenant le temps d’envoyer des instructions claires pour l’arrivée et ils avaient prévus quelques légumes, fruits et un petit minimum dans le frigo pour nous éviter de devoir courir au supermarché en arrivant. La terrasse permet d y manger a l’ombre d’une vigne et de jolis lauriers en fleurs. La piscine est très agréable et profonde et entretenue tous les matins par Richard en toute discrétion. Au final, nous avons pu nous reposer dans leur splendide propriété entourée des oliviers qui leur permettent de produire une huile.

The little wine-producing village of Travaillan is situated between two larger villages: Camaret-sur-Aigues (2.5 km to the south) and Ste Cécile les Vignes (6km to the north). In both cases you will find bakeries, a butcher, a grocery, a supermarket, a newsagent, restaurants, beauty salons, hairdressers, a chemist, doctor and dentist, and sports facilities. Your nearest bistro – "Chez Gégène" – in the centre of Travaillan, is less than a kilometre away from the holiday home. . Be sure to book if you wish to lunch there! It is very popular.
Guests will benefit considerably from having their own transport. The villa is a 20 minute drive by car from the A7/A9 motorway exit. We are also 15 min. from Orange train station, 40 min. from Avignon TGV or central train stations, 55 min. from Nîmes Alès- Camargue-Cévennes Airport, and 1 h 10 min from Marseille Provence Airport. Taxis are available .
Wine enthusiasts should note that La Genestière is located amongst the fine wines of the Plan de Dieu, and is less than 16 kilometres miles away from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne, Beaumes-de-Venise, and Rasteau.
The surrounding countryside and small villages are a gourmet’s paradise, and there are Provençal markets to be found every day of the week.
Vaison-la-Romaine and Orange, are both less than twenty minutes away. Avignon is less than half an hour’s drive away. Pont-du-Gard, Nîmes, and Les Baux de Provence are all a one hour drive away. Marseilles and the Mediterranean can be reached by motorway in just over an hour.
The 1911 metre high Mont Ventoux, known as the Géant de Provence, is clearly visible from the villa. and is only an hour away by car. The mountain regularly features in the Tour de France, and its ascent has become a pilgrimage for amateur and professional cyclists alike. La Genestière is well placed to serve as a base for cyclists of all abilities. Just 12 km away is the mountain range the Dentelles de Montmirail. It offers over 600 trails for walking, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
