There’s Domme, La Roque-Gageac and some of the Dordogne’s most iconic châteaux in one direction, then picturesque Limeuil, Trémolat and Bergerac in the other, not forgetting Sarlat-la-Canéda within half an hour. Heading east, Domme (30km) is one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its idyllic setting above the river whilst idyllic La Roque-Gageac (20km) is a good place for river cruises along the Dordogne. Some of the region’s most famous châteaux are within easy reach such as Château des Milandes, Château de Beynac and Château de Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, all within a 15 to 20-minute drive. In the other direction is picturesque Limeuil (14km) where the Dordogne and Vézère rivers converge, alongside historic Trémolat (20km) and its Michelin starred restaurants. Discover yet more wonderful cuisine and wines in Bergerac (50km), perhaps driving via Issigeac (45km), another picture-perfect village with a gorgeous Sunday morning market.
