海伊镇(Hay-on-Wye) · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室5床2.0卫 · 可住7人 · Pen-y-Cwm Cottage @ Tregoyd Estate
Sleeping up to seven in three bedrooms, Pen-y-Cwm is full of strength and character. Perched on a geological shoulder and with sigh worthy views of the valley, Hay Bluff and The Knob – the cottage has that sense of refuge. Here you can enjoy the weather good or bad, sunsets and sunrises in their full glory and witness brutal storms rolling over the hills. These hills surely harbor mighty spirits. Sleeping 7 in three bedrooms, this quaint cottage houses a well-stocked kitchen with a large dining table, and a lounge with a wood fire and comfy seating. For entertainment, there’s a table tennis and foosball table, a smart TV, a gas BBQ and a wood-fired hot tub. Dining Pen-y-Cwm’s bespoke kitchen offers an ideal space for preparing culinary masterpieces, and is fully equipped with any utensil you'll need cooking for your group. You’ll find a 4-hob induction stove and an electric oven. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen, a 70/30 fridge/freezer (and a washing machine in the wooden shed just outside the house). The dining table provides seating for 7, and there's an outdoor terrace which is perfect for breakfasts and lunches. The terrace also hosts the gas BBQ and wood-fired hot tub, so is the perfect entertaining space on a warm summer's evening. Hot Tub After a busy day exploring the wonderful countryside surrounding the cottage, there's nothing better than relaxing with a glass of something cold in our wood-fired hot tub. With picturesque views, it's a wonderful opportunity to ease aching muscles, or simply enjoy a moment or two of quiet contemplation and feel at one with the world around you. Just remember to start the fire for the tub upon your return to the cottage to benefit from a full evening of relaxation, as it takes around 1 hour (summer) or 2 hours (winter) to heat up from cold. Gardens The cottage has an enclosed garden that surrounds the cottage, with the maintained lawns providing space for children and games. The garden is not dog proof and we respectfully ask that you take responsibility for your four-legged friends' actions. We also ask that you keep a watchful eye on younger children especially around the veranda and the walls of the (very old) tumbled down shed to the side of the cottage. Living areas There's a cosy lounge with a smart TV and a fireplace so you can snuggle on the sofa with a good book if you prefer. You will find a stack of firewood in the barn on the bottom corner of the house, and a full sized table tennis table and foosball in the barn adjoined to the house (accessed via the veranda). Bedrooms Bedroom 1 has a superking bed and is located on the ground floor (down steps), and a bathroom adjacent (at the top of the steps) with a large walk in shower. Bedroom 2 and 3 are on the top floor with a king size and double bed, and extra single bed as a bunk above the double. These bedrooms have an adjacent bathroom with a bath. There is a travel cot available if needed (best used in the downstairs bedroom where there is the most space).
we needed a quiet secluded break after a stressful 12 months. This was exactly what we needed. The beautiful views and local walks were perfect. Watching the local local animals from the huge Kitchen/Dining room window was so peaceful and relaxing. Really hope we will return to this wonderful spot soon. if you want peace and quiet and relaxation off the beaten track, we can't recommend it enough.
Property location is picturesque and spotless, beautiful facilities to complement the landscape. We had a restful and peaceful break as a family of four with our dog. Host was extremely helpful and provided clear instructions
This is a beautiful, cozy and extremely well done-out cottage high on a hillside in the Brecon Beacons. The core is an old stone-built cottage with a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove and 2 of the bedrooms and a modern bathroom upstairs. Two extensions contain a master bedroom with a modern en-suite in one, and a modern kitchen with fantastic views in the other. The kitchen has all the kit you could reasonably expect- we made several big meals and even did a bit of baking without needing anything that wasn’t there. The property overall is really cozy- central heating throughout and underfloor heating in the extensions and no drafts. And of course the wood burner! The surrounding countryside is stunning, with the local peak of Twmpa easily walkable straight from the property. On rainy days (this is Wales after all!) then the cottage has plenty of space and a big table in the kitchen for activities, plus a modern barn with foosball and table tennis. A fantastic stay
A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location for a get-away-from-it-all stay. The cottage is very well equiped with a lovely kitchen, comfortable beds and a cozy living room with wood burning stove. The communication from the host was excellent including an update on the day of arrival about a local road closure. We loved being in such a rural setting, the views are amazing and we enjoyed hiking in the area. Hay-on-Wye was an easy drive away for shopping and eating out.
Out & About
Pen-y-cwm is just moments away from an enormous amount of walkable, explorable, just-sit-down-on-able hillside. With views of Twmpa and Hay Bluff, and just a few miles from the popular book town of Hay-on-Wye, whether you enjoy the great outdoors or are happiest browsing through a bookshop, you'll find plenty to fill your time. Explore the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons, or immerse yourself in the bustle of Hay-on-Wye - or perhaps explore the fascinating coal mine at Big Pit and descend hundreds of feet below the surface and see how life was for the miners.
Eating & Drinking
We're lucky enough to be surrounded by fantastic restaurants, quirky cafes, and traditional pubs. Whether you're looking to relax with a pint on a Sunday afternoon in front of a roaring fire, enjoy a lazy Saturday morning brunch, or are looking for Michelin-Star fine dining, we've got just the thing for you.
Walking
Surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, the scenery and variety of walks on your doorstep really is unparalleled. There are walks to suit everyone: from strolls alongside the banks for Grwyne Fawr Reservoir; energetic hikes up Pen Y Fan or Hay Bluff; or a relaxing walk enjoying the beauty of the Wye Valley.
Getting to the Cottage
The approach to the cottage is suitably exciting; narrow single-track lanes make their way up the hillside from the Wye Valley, before a narrow track takes you down to the charming cottage perched above a secluded valley.
If you’d prefer to cut down on your travel time along the narrow and single track lanes, we recommend approaching from Hay-on-Wye and Llanigon rather than from the villages of Three Cocks, Glasbury or Talgarth (and rather than via the Mountain Road from Abergavanny!).
Winter Stays
We will do all we can to assist access during periods of extreme wintry conditions, but please bear in mind when booking that you will be staying at an altitude of 1,000 feet in the Welsh hills, and that if poor conditions are expected, they may impact upon your stay.
Parking
There is enough space at the cottage to park two cars comfortably, but up to 3 could be accommodated whilst still leaving space to turn around. Please note that the car park is just above the cottage. Please do not drive around the outside of the cottage as it can get muddy and you may get stuck. Please try to leave room for us to turn too should we need to visit the cottage during your stay.
