My stay with Ma. Carmen and Gilda was a little bit of a mixed bag, which left me feeling that their listing has all of the making to be a great place to rent if they make a few substantive and cosmetic changes. Pros: - They offer an airport pickup/dropoff service for $20 dollars that was really nice and well received after traveling for the entire day. Gilda was great in communicating where she would pick me up and then giving history about the city on the way into the accommodation. - Check-in was a breeze with the friendly security guards, you tell them your name and they give you a key and key fob. Security was great because you have to have the key fob to operate the elevator to go up to the living spaces. - There is ample space for 1-2 people inside of the apartment and the walk-in closet is as advertised nice and spacious. The bathroom is also a nice size and has good water pressure and ample hot water. - The location is fantastic as it's right across from Parque de La Carolina and close to so many restaurants (albeit a lot of them are more upscale so if you are looking for the cheaper $3 desayunos and almuerzos you may have to travel a little to find them. Cons: - The furniture is very uncomfortable, especially the bed. Sleeping on the bed felt like sleeping on rocks or a concrete plank. The couch is also very lumpy so it's unlikely you will spend a lot of time there. - There is black mold all throughout the bathroom, covering the ceiling so well it almost looks like wallpaper as well as in the grout and on the bathroom tiles. - The wifi is very spotty and it frequently went out making it very hard to hold zoom calls or stream shows uninterrupted. I often had to switch back and forth between different wifi accounts (there is a 1A and 1B for the apartment). - The kitchen needs to be completely revamped. The refrigerator and freezer do not do their jobs. The fridge barely keeps things cooler than the room temp at night and the freezer will not keep your frozen foods frozen no matter what setting you put it on (which creates a health hazard for using the foods you purchase). The stovetop has a minimum weight for whatever pot or pan you are trying to use before it will turn on, so if you have trouble with that know that it may just be to light for the stove to recognize. During my stay, while washing dishes the entire faucet hose came apart and appeared to be rusted out to the point where the screw grips would not take, so I had to delicately hold the faucet in place each time I wanted to use it to clean up (Ma. Carmen did have somebody over to fix it after my stay so it will probably be better). - Stemming from the faucet issue where water sprayed all over, Ma. Carmen tried to claim that I had stained and permanently discolored the countertops and appliances in the kitchen by cleaning with bleach (which did not happen in any way shape or form) and attempted to have me pay a repair fee of $60. So I would highly recommend taking pictures of everything in the apartment as soon as you arrive so that you have picture evidence to dispute any claims should something like that arise. Overall, Ma. Carmen and Gilda seem like nice people but there are some changes that need to be made for them to be first-rate Airbnb hosts.

This place was awesome Ma. Carmen was really nice, always trying to help us! The location is incredible we didn't even use taxis to move around because we have malls, restaurants, bars in less than a Kilometer.

Carmen and Gilda's place has an excellent location beside the large central park, La Carolina. We really enjoyed running, exercising, and walking through the park which is 1 block away. Being here was like visiting friends. The apartment was very secure with a doorman and key fob elevator. The surrounding area, 1 to 2 blocks, has many restaurants. There were 3 large supermarkets with malls within walking distance (3-8 blocks). We are a $2.50 - 3.00 ride from the historical part of the city but much safer. Gilda was so very friendly and took care of any problem that arose as well as driving us around (cheaper than Uber) to see things and just being a friend. We are hoping to come back in a couple of months and want to stay here again.

Had a great stay here. The place was amazing and the location was fantastic. Close to Carolina park and quicentro mall. Would definitely stay here again.
