Eastgate Cottage is a spacious, luxury coastal cottage offering spectacular front-line views of the marshes and the sea. With beautiful furnishings and its stunning views, this stylish semi-detached retreat will prove a favourite with Hideaway guests wanting to visit this ever-popular coastal village. Characterful yet contemporary, this spacious property has a ground floor bedroom boasting amazing views straight out across the marsh to the sea and a ground floor shower room. Upstairs (the stairs are quite steep and narrow reflecting the property's history) you'll discover two further bedrooms; a King-size bedroom which boasts views of the sea and marsh and a bunk room (with double bed beneath and single on top) which share a beautiful bathroom with free-standing bath. On entering the property from the rear, you will find a practical porch area for boots and coats and space for wiping down muddy paws. From here you enter a lovely semi-vaulted kitchen/dining area with beautiful beams which is both sociable and practical with hard floors and a shaker-style kitchen, filled with everything you would need to cook whilst away on holiday and a dining table and chairs plus a bench for relaxed dining. The cosy, warm and spacious sitting room has a gorgeous wood burning stove with plenty of comfortable seating, making it the perfect place to relax after a busy day walking or exploring. The sitting room also provides the opportunity to read or simply watch the wildlife that live on the marsh and binoculars are provided for you to make the most of this property's spectacular location. On warmer days enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the terrace before walking to the renowned village pub/restaurant; the Dun Cow, or shop for local produce and dine outside in the peaceful south-facing garden. Or choose to take breakfast on the front terrace overlooking the sea. With so many walks (head east to Cley-next-the-Sea and right to Kelling and Weybourne along the beach or coastal path), you may not need to get the car out once you've parked up, given you also have a wonderful village pub which serves good ales and food, and of course Cookies crab shop which serves the freshest fish inside or out; and there is also a well-stocked village store. The beach is shingle and sublime during the summer, when you can pack a picnic and settle yourself down and enjoy the view. In winter it is equally captivating. The NWT reserve at Cley-next-the-Sea is in easy walking distance, so make sure you visit when you can. Also, on cooler days, take advantage of the wonderful views afforded from their cafe upstairs. Bring your bikes and cycle the narrow lanes that make Norfolk such a special place, or enjoy a day trip to Holkham or one of two nearby National Trust properties which have wonderful parklands too; Felbrigg or Blickling. If you are looking for more space, you can always elect to book Eastgate Cottage and Hideaway as a sleeps 8 which includes the one bedroom annexe next door. Or if you want less space and a cosy coastal bolthole, why not look at Eastgate Hideaway which just sleeps 2. Additional Information: The staircase in Eastgate Cottage is quite narrow and steep with shallow treads and may not be suitable for very young children or the less mobile. Pillows and duvets are feather. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). Parking is available to the rear of Eastgate Cottage, on a gravel driveway. Please note that driveway will be shared with the neighbouring annexe, Eastgate Hideaway Electric car charger available to use in shared driveway (no additional charge). Use of a hot tub can be booked for an extra charge of £350 (please request at the point of booking).
Salthouse still remains fairly undiscovered but this wonderfully unspoilt coastal village which also boasts a beautiful church sat high on the hill and clusters of flint and brick cottages, is located right on the North Norfolk Coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a strong community but welcomes visitors and boasts two wonderful places to eat; the award-winning Cookies Crab Shop which serves local seafood and produce from its door and also offers dining too; and The Dun Cow pub/restaurant which is popular with locals and visitors alike.
It is an ideal location for exploring the whole of the coast including Kelling, Weybourne, Sheringham and Cromer to the east and the pretty villages of Cley-next-the-Sea, Wiveton, Blakeney and Wells-next-the-Sea to the west, which are only a short drive away. If you don't want to drive, then catch the Coast Hopper bus which travels backwards and forwards along the coast road. Head to Holkham to enjoy probably the best beach in the area and the pinewoods and deer park, or Wells-next-the-Sea where you will adore the pretty beach huts. There is even a dog-friendly beach café where your four-legged friend will appreciate the dog menu choices!
The local area is a year-round haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers and with so many wildlife and bird reserves including Cley Marshes on your doorstep. Plus there's good fishing and excellent walks and quiet lanes for cycling, you won't want to leave this fabulous hideaway. Don't forget to get tickets for a boat trip to see the seals from Morston or Blakeney.
