Come, experience, share and learn about the Konyak tribe tradition and practices, its culture and people. Interact with the host, an author whose book "The Konyaks: Last of the Tattooed Headhunters" is a world and national award winner based on the vanishing tattoo tradition of the Konyaks. As it is a working farm, the guests can participate and engage in tea picking, gardening and farming activities. The plantation offers endless walking paths through the tea bushes on rolling slopes. Guests will stay in a farmhouse decorated with portraits of the last tattooed Konyak headhunters, traditional earthen pottery, wooden carvings and artefacts. This home is a unique space because it is a living museum of Konyak cultural heritage. Guest willl love the open kitchen dining living room concept with a fireplace that makes the place intimate. The house is surrounded by 250 acres of tea plantation, flowers and vegetables garden. Guests can participate,learn and experience tea picking, gardening and farming activities with the host and locals.

A remarkable place! It requires some effort to get there but Phejin, your host, will help arrange whatever you need. During my visit she was extremely helpful and informative. I could not have asked for a better guide. Food, tea garden, flower garden, vegetable garden, fruit tress, a small library of good books, friendly staff, great views...all add up to: A Remarkable Place! I hope to be able to come back one day soon.

The farm is located in the middle of 250 acres of private tea plantation away from noise and traffic.
Shiyong village is 20 minutes walking distance and 5 minutes drive by car. The villagers are friendly and warm and glady welcome visitors into their homes for a cup of tea and chat around the blazing fireplaces. Children roam and play around freely on the village streets even during nighttime as at daytime because crime against children or womenfolk is unheard of. Overall, the village life is of peaceful coexistence as it has been for generations as stress is absent because there is less "wants" than needs.
Wakching village is 40 minutes walking distance and 15-20 minutes drive away from the farm. It has 5 beautiful morungs (men's club) with massive wooden carvings and pillars.
Wanching village, which is about 25-30 minutes drive is another beautiful village where the Konyak traditional lifestyle is very much intact and a must see for visitors to explore and experience.
Hungphoi village (2 hours) drive is famous for the last remaining tattoo headunters.
Longwa village (3 hours drive) is situated on the India-Myanmar boundary. The village is famous for its location of falling half in India and half in Myanmar. The traditional Konyak longhouses where the facial tattooed headhunters reside is a beautiful sight to experience and learn the old Konyak way of lifestyle.
To get to the farm the guests have to fly to Dibrugarh airport in Assam state which is 6 hours drive. We arrange pick up and drop off.
Bhojo train station near Sonari, Assam is the closest railway station (4 hours drive). We arrange pick up and drop off.
Mon town, which is also the district headquarter is 1 hour drive from Shiyong village. There are shared taxi services available between Shiyong - Mon from Mondays to Saturdays.
Dimapur city, which is the biggest commercial city of Nagaland state is 350 kms away and 7-8 hours drive. There are daily shared taxis and overnight buses between Mon town and Dimapur. There is an airport and railway station in Dimapur.
Kohima, the capital of Nagaland is about 10 hours drive from Shiyong village. There is direct overnight bus service between Kohima and Mon town.
