Your personal car or a rental car is mandatory for you to reach and fully enjoy the comforts of Cottage Lento and the surrounding area.Rental cars can be hired at the airport in Split. Alternatively, we can also provide you the details for an agency on the island of Hvar. This agency can collect you by boat from a variety of locations on the mainland and the island of Brač and then offer you a rental car once you arrive on Hvar.
Either way, there are two main ways to travel to Cottage Lento, by air and by car.
If you will be travelling by air, you have two options for flying into this region of Croatia. The closet airport is on the island of Brač. Alternatively, you can also fly into the airport in the city of Split. This latter airport is commonly either referred to as “Split Airport” or “Resnik Airport”.
If you fly into the island of Brač, a private boat connection can be arranged between Brač and Hvar, the island where our cottage can be found. It is then possible to rent a car once you arrive on the island of Hvar. Please contact us for further details of this agency.
From the airport, you will need to travel by road to the Split Ferry Port. This terminal is located in the centre of Split and typically takes a 30 - 45 minute drive, although traffic along this route can vary considerably. In the Ferry Port of Split, choose terminal STARI GRAD where you can buy the tickets for transportation of passengers and vehicles at “Jadrolinija office”. The ferry ride takes approximately 120 minutes. From Stari Grad, you need to drive to Jelsa (approximately 10 km) to the meeting point (you will get an SMS with details) from where we will accompany you through the village of Pitve, tunnel and village of Zavala to the Cottage Lento.
If you travelling to the island of Hvar by car only, then you have two options to make the ferry connection to our island. The first option is via Split, as per the instructions above. Alternatively, you may also catch a ferry from the “Drvenik Ferry Port”. To do so, you will have to drive on the A1 highway in the direction of Dubrovnik. Please exit from the A1 on the regional road at the point signed Makarska, Makarska Rviera and continue along the regional coastal road to the village of Drvenik. In the village of Drvenik, you have to choose “car boarding line” marked SUĆURAJ. The tickets for transportation of passengers and vehicles are available in the “Jadrolinija office” located close to the main beach in the Drvenik bay. The ferry ride takes approximately 20 minutes. From the SUĆURAJ, you have to drive 50 km to the Jelsa-meeting point (you will get an SMS with details) from where we will accompany you through the village of Pitve, tunnel and village of Zavala to the Cottage Lento.
In terms of which method you choose, each has their own relative advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the Ferry Port Split, you have to drive less on the mainland (particularly for those travelling from the Croatian border of western and central European countries), however, transportation by ferryboat lasts longer, and the ferryboat tickets are more expensive when compared with Ferry Port Drvenik. The distance from the Ferry Port Stari Grad to the Jelsa is shorter as well. For Port Drvenik, the ferry boat is quicker and cheaper than the ferry from Split, however, once you arrive on the island of Hvar, the drive from the port Sućuraj to Jelsa is longer. For those travelling from eastern European countries, we recommend catching a ferry from Ferry Port Drvenik.
