Bleasdale is one of four Lantern and Larks sites nestled in the beautiful Lancashire countryside, within easy reach of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, this is the perfect place for a family break. Sit back and relax in one of five luxury safari tents, fully equipped with a cosy wood burning stove, hot running water and comfortable bedrooms. Each of our luxury Lantern and Larks tents accommodates six guests and has three bedrooms that each sleep two people. There is one king size room, one twin room and one bunk bed room per tent. You could also fit a travel cot in any of the bedrooms (these can be hired if required). Our Lantern and Larks glamping site is situated above a private section of the River Brock. Build dams, catch sticklebacks, wander down the sleepy river banks to quiet pools in the dappled shade of the overhanging trees. Or build dens and camps in the wood behind the tents. It's a natural adventure playground for your kids. From our beautiful forest of Bowland Lantern and Larks site, there is direct access to the local footpath network, and you can visit the Stone Age circle located 20 minutes' walk from your tent. A little further on and you reach the open access area of the Bowland Fells where you can walk for miles without seeing a car – or even other people. All this without going near a public road. For the more intrepid, there are the local cycle networks and bridleways close to the luxury Lantern & Larks Bleasdale glamping campsite. Cycle to the nearby Beacon Fell Country Park from the glamping camp site, or to the pretty village of Chipping with its pubs, cafes and ice cream shop! If this seems a little hard work, there is a business hiring electric bicycles located on the estate. If other forms of transport appeal, there are local horse-riding centres close by and they specialise in taking riders on treks round the local riding network. Or take a cruise on the Lancaster canal from the Barton Grange Garden Centre – only 10 minutes away. The local wildlife can be stunning with everything from glimpses of deer in the valley below your tents to the famous "sky dancer" or hen harrier on the fells above you. If your tastes run to the more exotic, we have the Bowland Wild Boar Park a 20-minute drive away, and for those keen on catching the local wildlife, there are several fishing lakes in the area, ranging from pike and perch to trout and salmon. Additional Information: Adult only bookings; we do accept all adult bookings but this must be discussed and agreed before the booking is confirmed. With adult only group bookings we require a holding security deposit of £1,000 per large booking, this will be refunded within 7 days of your departure. Travel cots and high chairs available on request (small additional charge). Up to four well behaved dogs welcome per tent (small additional charge). Please note, there is no electricity on site. Light is provided by candle and lamps along with solar powered lighting.
Lantern and Larks on the Bleasdale estate is located on the western side of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Lancaster is just 30 minutes away, while the famous Blackpool pleasure beach is a 45-minute drive. Ideal for those coming from Manchester, Liverpool and Preston; it's a perfect choice.
The site itself has direct access to the local footpaths, including a Stone Age circle just a 20-minute walk from the tents. The open access area of the Bowland Fells is just a little further away, providing hours of beautiful country walks. Alternatively, jump on your bike and explore the Fells on two wheels, or cycle to the charming village of Chipping to visit the pubs, cafes and ice cream shop!
The Inn at Whitewell is an old fashioned-rural pub. Seasonal grouse from Lancashire Moor, pheasant and partridge from Dunsop shoot, Bowland beef and Lonk lamb from Burholme Farm are staples on the menu.
The beautiful 16th century Browsholme Hall is also just a short drive away, with its beautiful gardens and fascinating history. Meanwhile, animal lovers won't want to miss the Bowland Wild Boar Park or Cobble Hey Farm & Gardens – both of which offer a great opportunity to meet some four-legged friends.
