Upstairs, the master bedroom is a showstopper, the perfect background to create your memories. The “Atami Room'' is inspired by the tropical feeling of Atami's mountains and sea, and by this town's history as a mid 20th century boomtown when it was known as a playground of the rich and famous. A fifteen bulb chandelier crowns an indulgent, queen sized bed, for two guests, which is framed by crystal glass bedside lights. The Atami Room features a huge mirror which was originally installed for geisha to practice traditional dance choreography. Verdant, tropical wallpaper has been teamed with traditional Japanese, “sudare” bamboo doors. The sliding doors can be closed, creating two bedrooms upstairs, or they can be opened, to convert the space into one, luxurious master bedroom. An enormous double window opens on to views of Atami’s town, mountains and sea. During Atami’s seasonal fireworks displays, different views can be enjoyed from the three, separate windows in the Atami Room. The second bedroom upstairs is the "Maiko Room” inspired by the geisha who lived in this house, when it was first built. This traditional tatami room has been faithfully restored and refreshed with traditional fusuma paper which features a pine needle pattern, symbolising endurance and good fortune in Japan. Two guests can sleep in this room, on traditional futon mattresses. The Maiko Room features a TV, mounted in a custom wall cabinet. There is space in the closet to store luggage and hang up clothing. Traditional paper “shoji” screens on the picture window can be opened to reveal views of Atami’s town, mountains and sea, offering another excellent angle from which to view fireworks displays. On the ground floor, a traditional Tea Room, purpose built for tea ceremony, can be enjoyed as a relaxation space, or set with futon mattresses for up to three guests. Decorations in the “tokonoma” space are changed to reflect the seasons in Japan. The Tea Room opens on to a six metre long deck, overlooking a garden featuring Japan’s seasonal plants. Finished with traditional stepping stones, moss and lanterns, guests can enjoy gazing at the view and there is plenty of space for children to enjoy games. At night, the garden softly glows with festoon lights. During fireworks displays, guests can enjoy views from the garden and deck. A “Cinema Room” has been created in the second, ground floor bedroom. Atami has a rich cinema history and the town has been featured in two Godzilla movies. Enjoy the room as an entertainment space, with two platform beds doubling as a generous sofa. A 15,000 lumen projector has been set up with a 1.8 metre screen so that you can enjoy streaming services such Netflix, YouTube or Japanese digital TV stations. When an extra futon bed is added to the floor, three guests can sleep in the cinema room. A fully equipped kitchen provides everything you need to cook, from a quick breakfast, to full meals. An induction stove with cookware is available, along with coffee maker, kettle, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker and utensils. Cutlery, dishes and cups for up to 10 people are supplied. A slimline custom built table can be set to provide the most spacious room setting for 2-6 guests. A second table can be added for 6-10 guests, so that everyone can enjoy each other’s company at the same table. A house shinto shrine, the home of a traditional Japanese god, watches over the dining table, set against a background of shimmering gold wallpaper. The bathroom is set out in a classic, Japanese, mid century style, with a spacious shower and deep bath that has room for two guests. Enjoy a deep cleansing shower before soaking in the deep, stone tiled bath to relax and restore aching muscles. For those who are interested in the famous hot springs of Atami, there are numerous bath houses within walking distance, that can be used by members of the public for a small fee. There is a dressing room outside the bathroom with space to put your clothes, multiple towel racks, a hairdryer and heater. In this space you will also find a washing machine, with laundry pods and racks to hang laundry from. There is also an outdoor laundry line on the front deck. Geisha House Atami has two Toto Washlet toilets.
