The photos do not do this place justice ! The location was absolutely stunning. It was private and secluded but still accessible to everything else in Ella. The staff were amazing, very kind and were happy to help with any questions we had. There were plenty of activities they had on offer and don’t even get me started on the choice of food ! The staff cooked freshly made meals and you could purchase lunch and dinner if you planned on staying at the retreat. So delicious. I absolutely loved this place and would definitely come back again.

Beautiful and unique stay high up in Ella. Right next to a waterfall so you always have natures music to listen to. Very friendly staff and always accessible. The food was great too - served at your own private table at your accommodation. Comfortable mattress. Clean bathroom with soaps/shaving kit/dental kit/ shower cap and clean white towels. The shower is unique and it’s nice having one thick stream of water hit your body like a massage. I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a bit away from the busy town centre which we loved because you could escape once you’re done exploring. Close to Ella rock hiking trail too.

Das Ella Retreat ist am Hügel ein bißchen außerhalb von Ella gelegen. Wir wurden per tuk tuk direkt vom Bahnhof abgeholt. Die Zelte sind sauber und gut ausgestattet. Über jedem Zelt ist ein Dach, damit man gut geschützt ist. Es sind natürlich die üblichen Tiere des Dschungels unausweichlich, dazu gehören Affen, Eichhörnchen, Mader, aber auch Kakalaken. Es wurde frisch gekocht für uns, typisch singhalesisch und es hat toll geschmeckt. Alles in allem ein tolles Erlebnis und sehr empfehlenswert.

The tent we stayed in was as described. WiFi was extraordinary. It’s much better to stay in the retreat than in Ella itself. There is a 10 min hike to a waterfall, which you could also spot from our tent. Other than that you will need a Tuktuk. Cars can’t get there. Breakfast is served at your convenience. Good food to start the day with a great view. Rain is no problem. Bathroom is amazing!
