Burtersett · 整套民居 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Cottage with fabulous views of the Dales
My cottage is positioned on the edge of Burtersett, a tiny, tranquil village set away from the main road in the heart of Wensleydale. It has glorious, far-reaching views across the dale from the sitting room, sitting-out area and main bedroom. Just a 20-minute walk across gorgeous meadows to the town of Hawes and the Pennine Way, it is an ideal centre for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. There are walks in all directions from the cottage itself. A cosy and comfortable 19th century quarrymen's terrace, the cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard offering tasteful and welcoming accommodation. The sitting/dining room has a flagstone floor and woodburner (with enough wood and kindling for one fire). There is a sofa, two armchairs, sturdy dining table and four chairs. To the right of the fireplace is a games cupboard. You'll find plenty of books, maps and guides on the shelves. There is Wi-Fi, freeview TV and a DVD player (top RH edge of the TV). Also on the ground floor are a fully equipped kitchen (with capacious fridge) and bathroom, which has both a bath and a fixed shower over. You'll find the microwave and washing machine in the kitchen cupboard. Upstairs—these are fairly steep, characteristic of a Victorian workers' cottage, but with handrail—there are two double bedrooms. The front bedroom is the larger of the two, with room for a travel cot (not supplied by the cottage) if required. The second bedroom is quite small, but has a nice comfy double bed, bedside tables with drawers, and a shelf and hooks for clothes. The cottage is heated by oil-fired central heating and is very snug in winter. (Please don't adjust the settings, but use the extra hour buttons as necessary. The thermostat by the kitchen door is useful for controlling the overall heating.) Towels are included. The back door from the sitting room leads on to a small paved area with a gravel strip for table and chairs (there are two spare chairs in the kitchen cupboard) ... and an unforgettable view of the Dales beyond. There is no fence or wall between the cottage's space and those of my neighbours (the path leads off to some steps down to the lane in one direction) — so those of you with toddlers might want to bear that in mind.
a truly spectacular location. one for the walkers and for those that enjoy spotting birds and wildlife. a home from home, the place has everything you need. we really loved being able to walk from your front door! would highly recommend and would love to visit again!
Nicholas’s place was very comfortable and cozy. Spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Loved the wood burner and the views. Bed and linen very good. Nicholas has lots of info about local area and walks through the Dales. No Pubs in village however lots of Pubs with good food close by in nearby villages. We were impressed with Middle House in Askrigg. Ate there twice. Would recommend a stay at Nicholas’s.
We had a lovely stay at this cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. We would definitely come back in future if returning to the same area. Thanks Nicholas!
Another fantastic stay at this lovely, traditional cottage. Its a perfect location with views across the open fields and easy walks from the house. Its cosy with central heating and the stove if you need it. There is comfy seating in the lounge and table space for eating meals. The kitchen has everything you need and all the equipment if you want to cook. The shower is good. The beds are comfy and the bedding is cosy and fresh. We love this little place.
The tiny village of Burtersett is perfectly positioned for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Situated in Wensleydale ("James Herriot country"), it lies just a mile from Hawes and the Pennine Way - a few minutes by car, or just 20 minutes by foot along an old flagstone track across the meadows. Hawes has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. Castle Bolton, Askrigg and Aysgarth Falls are not far by road in the other direction. And there are numerous spectacular upland or valley walks you can make straight from the door of the cottage.
There is a local bus service that comes to Burtersett on request: the Little White Bus. Visit their website for more details. But most people get there by car.
There is space for two cars in the yard immediately outside the front of the cottage. This space is shared by neighbours and is on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are usually plenty of parking spaces either side of the lane at the top of the village, about 100 metres up the hill.
