Fantastic place for plein air painters, cyclists or hikers. The house -called the Pigeonnier de Rocambole- was built around an old pigeon coop from the mid 1700s. The story goes that "The exploits of Rocambole", famous fictional character, was written by Ponson du Terrail in this pigeon coop in 1850. The terrace wraps around the right side and front of the house, and underneath the terrace in the front is a sun room. On the first level is the main entrance to the house, the living room and dining room, the laundry room, a full kitchen, a bedroom, bathroom and toilet. Next to the laundry room is another small veranda/sun room. The French doors in the living room allow access to the terrace. A stairway leads to the second level, where three more bedrooms are located, including a bathroom and an office. The bedroom with the sofa bed can also be used as a reading room. The hallway door gives full access to the outside. The house is set in a steep terraced garden populated with live and white oaks. We have a septic system, so thank you for being kind to it by only leaving toilet paper in the toilets and not pouring harsh chemicals down any of the the drains.
