Cerro Alegre is one of the most famous hills of the city of Valparaíso. Its name is due to the beautiful gardens that adorned the houses in the sector, which in the 19th century was inhabited mainly by English immigrants.

Cerro Alegre forms a geographical and cultural unit together with our neighbor Cerro Concepción, and both hills make up the tourist axis of the city. Here you can find many attractive places, such as restaurants, bars, viewpoints, painted stairs, street art, churches, luxury hotels, hostels and other more traditional accommodations.

Regarding the safety of the neighborhood, it is recommended to exercise caution at night in certain areas of the city, particularly when walking through dark or little-traveled places. If you plan to return very late, especially if you are coming back from a party, ideally you do it with other people and in Uber or Cabify. Being a tourist neighborhood, there is crime and it increases in the high seasons, therefore we just want you to have the standard precautions that you would take when traveling to any other international tourist city.

We are located at the entrance of Cerro Alegre, one of the most tourist areas of the city, very close to everything you need, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, museums and a few meters from subway stations, buses (micros) and the trolleybus.

Valparaíso is an ideal city to walk. Our beloved Cerro Alegre along with the neighboring Cerro Concepción, are part of the main tourist hills of Valparaiso, although they are not the only ones. A good plan is to walk and tour these hills. You will discover a picturesque graffiti at every step. Experience the trips in its famous and centennial elevators. Nearby are the Peral, Concepción and Reina Victoria elevators. There are also several viewpoints nearby, such as Paseo Yugoslavo, Atkinson, and Gervasoni, all with impressive panoramic views of Valparaíso Bay.

Discover the streets Templeman, Pierre Loti; the Gálvez and Fischer passages; the Dimalow promenade; Alemania Avenue, or Great Britain Avenue, just to name a few options. Don't forget your camera or your water bottle!

If you come to Maki by car, we recommend that you first arrive to check-in (between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm) and then leave your car at the "Parking Paseo del Puerto" which is a 5 minute walk away, is open 24 hours every day (including Sundays and holidays) and has the cheapest price in the city:
