We highly recommend the Sugar Pine Chalet! I stayed here with my husband, two small kids and dog for the week for Spring Break and it did not disappoint. The pictures and the description were spot on. More than enough space for us, nice open floor plan, spotless kitchen with all the tools we needed to make meals during our stay and a nice fenced in yard where the kids could play around in the snow. Very quiet neighborhood nestled in the woods and close to Spicer Sno-Park, Arnold, Murphys and Big Trees State Park. Nights were cozy with the wood burning fireplace and overall just a great place to relax when we weren’t out seeing the sights. Would love to go back and enjoy what summer has to offer!

My wife and I stayed at Daniel's home for our wedding anniversary this year. We had a great time and enjoyed the surroundings. Everything was as expected and the hosts were responsive as well. The home also has a fenced off yard which is helpful for a pet or children when going outside. Overall, we would recommend this to anybody looking for a place to stay in the Dorrington area.

The Sugar Pine Chalet is such a gem! Beautifully decorated with all the amenities you could want. The bed in the loft was extremely comfortable, the towels for the shower were nice a big (great for a bigger person like me!), the heater worked very well, and so much more. My dog loved having the back yard to explore and the front porch to watch squirrels from. We actually got a bit stuck due to a huge snow storm, but I couldn't complain - what a great place to get stuck! And the snow just made it that much more cozy. The power did go out a few times during the storm but not for long, and the generator kicked on extremely quickly. And the place is so close to Calaveras Big Trees - we ended up going twice. And even though there are neighbors nearby, the cabin still felt quite private. Daniel and his team were also very responsive, especially during the storm. A 10/10 stay!

Wonderful stay here with our family of 5 and our Boston Terrier! We wanted to play in the snow somewhere other than Tahoe and I’m so glad we came here. The cabin looks just like the photos, as others mentioned. Here are some highlights: 1. Lots of towels and bathroom/kitchen amenities (body wash, shampoo, laundry and dishwasher detergent, really well stocked cabinet with spices, coffee, etc). This is a must for us, especially with 3 kids. 2. Who knew you could go sledding when it’s 60 degrees out? We didn’t realize that there would be so much snow on the ground just 20 minutes up the road at Spicer Sno park, even though it had been so warm out. Lake Alpine and Bear Valley are also good options a little bit further up the road. 3. The town of Murphy is 30 minutes away and is well worth visiting as it’s very charming with so many wine tasting rooms and restaurants. Highly recommend Murphy’s Pourhouse for families - casual food, beer and huge outdoor area with turf and picnic tables!
