This resort is nestled in one of the few green patches in an otherwise largely rocky and sandy Nubra valley. It's one of the best places we have stayed at. Location - One of the highest ranked features of this place. It's covered with various types of trees and thick vegetation, is right next to Siachin river and three different snow-clad mountain ranges. You can click photos at any random angle, any point within the resort or tall peaks in a distance, chances are that you'll end up with your next Insta post. Layout - I've never seen such a perfect resort layout anywhere else. Small, cosy clean room with walk-in closet area and modern bathroom. Having rooms with such measured dimensions means they have left large areas outside for a private garden and some thick bushes. But for us, the best part was common areas. They have created various seating lounges throughout the greens that cover most of the property. All these seating areas were uniquely designed, but had comfortable chairs/stools, tables, branch and leaves sheds and some of them had hammock and make your own tea options. Their common room is full of books, games and a projector for movie nights.. However, please note that their layout has more emphasis on communal hangout compared to private in-room comforts. For example, the rooms don't have tv, heater or even an electric kettle. It worked well for us as we got to see and hang out at various spots on the property and met a lot of people, but not everyone may like it. People: The next best part of this property is people. Properly fitting into the cliched hospitality of Ladakhi hosts, we were given all the comforts one could ask for, while at the same time making new friends. Their property manager Tarun and volunteers Nayomi and Supriya were our hangout and go-to buddies for our entire stay, keeping in touch even now that we are back. One of the highlights of our stay was when the owner Rigzin came to visit the property with his family. He made us feel so welcome, and talked at length about his vision which enabled him to create a unique concept. Food: This was a hit and miss area for us. While we did like the food for the most part, we were sometimes not entirely happy with repetition of same/similar items in back to back meals or the lack of options we had in some of the buffet setup. But considering the dietary restrictions one needs to have while acclimatizing, their menu had a perfect blend of lightness, familiarity and taste. Comfort/Luxury: If for you, luxury means having servants at your beck and call, catering to your every fantasy and demand and making sure you always walk on rose petals, this place will not live upto the standards. But having a fully comfortable and cared for stay with attention to details in every aspect while feeling valued is what we experienced at this place, and we loved it. Experiences: Another big hit. We spent most of the day on hammocks either working from home or reading books. Then we walked till the river and crossed it (shallow water, a few inches deep) to reach the sand island for yoga sessions. Came back to the resort for pre-dinner moon gazing and finally finished our day by the cosy bonfire. Hard to overstate the pleasure of it all. Overall: It worked perfectly for a couple like us looking at a relaxed workation stay, more interested in meeting people and doing stuff all day long rather than sitting in our room. I can't rate this stay as value for money, because frankly it's not and it's not meant to be that. But it's a unique stay concept, one we had been searching for and were very happy to find and experience it.
