Manor Park Cottage is every bit as good as it looks in the photos, but the photos can't convey how just how cosy and comfortable it is. It feels secluded and private, perfect if you want a quiet peaceful retreat, and is well placed as a base for cycling and hiking around the impressive wilderness of Muggleswick Common and Stanhope Common. The spacious cottage is very well equipped, the kitchen has every conceivable utensil, even the most serious cook won't need to take anything except ingredients. All the fittings and gadgets are modern and good quality. Suits someone with limited mobility - both showers are walk-in and the comfortable beds are a good height for those with difficulty bending. The owner lives nearby and is very friendly and helpful. Was there to welcome us, showed us what was where, then left us to get on with our holiday. We were lucky enough to enjoy a long weekend there during storm Arwen, wonderful memories of basking in front of the log stove listening to the deep rumble of the storm raging outside, sitting warm in the lovely bay windows looking out into the swirling blizzard, and then walks through the snow in bright sunshine the following day. I hope we can go back there in Summer to enjoy the south facing garden and do a bit more exploring.
Thank you for our stay. We had a lovely time. The cottage was small but perfectly equipped for our needs. It even had tubs, bags, foil and cling film…..all things you need for a picnic! Lovely gesture of welcome gifts for us and the dog! 😁 The only thing that would have made it even better ……..Would be useful to have a fenced off area for the dog to run about.
