MARIPOSA NATIVE PLANTS: We have a small business growing and selling plants that are native to California. We do some collection and propagation on the same land as the rental house. We also have to maintain the property for fire safety. So you might occasionally see us or other workers on the property. However, no one will be near or in the house while guests are there, unless it's an emergency. If you're interested in our native plant business, we'll be happy to talk with you about it!
Beverly was a very proactive and amazing host, we had a wonderful stay! Beautiful and peaceful surroundings, slept to the sounds of crickets and owls hooting outside and was exactly what we came for. Very cute and cozy place. I loved that there was a private toilet downstairs (good for couples who might need alone time to do their biz). Tips: do not leave the garage open for more than a few mins, the mosquitoes will flood in. The washing machine cycle is very long, like 1 hr 45 mins, do not trust what the machine says for time left! Might be helpful to know: the water pressure in the shower is very weak. I didn’t mind this much, but I know others who absolutely NEED a powerful shower and may consider this a must have especially after a long day in the park.
Awesome place to stay. Great views and perfect distance to Yosemite and Mariposa. Would definitely recommend
Great place to stay for a trip to Yosemite. Can see both the sunrise and sunset from here!
Everything was great, highly recommend! The place is so quiet, clean, has everything you need and close to Yosemite. Hosts are also amazing! Will definitely come back.
Fremont's Corner is located on a total of 32 acres and is secluded from all neighbors. It is about 30 miles (45 mins) from the entrance to Yosemite National Park (1 hr to Yosemite Valley floor). Being a rural area, there are lots of birds and animals that call our property home, including deer, quail, turkeys, songbirds, and the occasional fox, mountain lion, and bear. The property is at the northeast corner of John C. Fremont's original Las Mariposas land claim.
Fremont's Corner is about 1 mile off Hwy 140, 30 miles to the entrance to Yosemite National Park (40 miles to the valley floor), and 6 miles to the town of Mariposa.
You can drive to Yosemite National Park or take the YARTS bus. The drive is about 45 minutes to the entrance, but in the summer the line to get into the park can be 1-2 hours or more. So in summer, we recommend leaving for the park no later than 7:00 am, earlier if possible, especially on weekends.
See the YARTS website for bus stop locations, pricing and schedules.
Once in the park, there are free shuttle buses that can take you to popular locations.
IMPORTANT--SNOW: We are located at 3,000 ft. Snow is typically December through March, with an average of only about 10 snow days a year. Heavy snowfall is not common, but can occur. The driveway is steep and long, and it can be difficult in snow or ice. If snow is expected, we recommend snow chains, even with an AWD or 4WD vehicle.
Snow chains are often required in Yosemite when it snows.
Please check winter weather forecasts. Wunderground or NOAA Weather for Mariposa/Midpines are usually pretty accurate.
