Stunning period beamed cottage, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, just a short walk from St Mawes harbour. Westover Cottage is comprised of 2 cottages that have been knocked into one to create a beautiful, charming, holiday retreat. Recently renovated with a high quality finish and a cleverly thought through configuration, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, which makes it a very comfortable holiday home for a family. The cottage is cosy and welcoming with a gorgeous kitchen in the centre as the hub and a cosy fire in the lounge. A large, fenced off terrace offers a great outdoor space with a bbq area, making it suitable for children and dogs. A newly built utility area with a spacious shower room, at the back, is just brilliant for hanging wetsuits etc. Adding to its charm is the chance to explore the quintessential Cornish fishing harbour of St Mawes with lots of restaurants, pubs and bakeries or even jump on the ferry to Falmouth. The property is entered through a slate floored porch with coat hooks and under bench boot storage. This continues into the lovely slate floor hall which then leads to the lounge. This welcoming room has exposed ceiling beams and is comfortably furnished with a large L-shaped sofa that will seat up to seven guests. The lounge has a main TV with Sky and a DVD, music centre and record player. There is an electric fire in this room. Stairs from the hall lead to the first floor with the larger master bedroom having a kingsize bed, the second bedroom is set as a twin room. The family bathroom has an over-bath shower, WC and a basin. The slate-floored kitchen/diner is well-equipped with a range of modern units, double electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. Next door is the beamed ground floor sitting room seating 5 people in comfort and has a TV and a call-barred telephone. This room also has a writing desk. Wifi is available at the property. The second set of stairs lead to the en-suite twin room, with shower, WC and basin. There are sea views from this room. The utility room to the rear of the cottage houses a washing machine and has a space to store beach and sunbathing equipment. There is a further bathroom with a WC, shower and basin here. The large terrace at the front of Westover is child and dog secure. This area is sunny throughout the day and there is a table and chairs which seats 6. There is also a barbecue. Westover is heated by a combination of an electric fire and electric radiators to give cosy comfort at all times of the year. There is off-road parking for one vehicle at the front of the cottage.
Really enjoyed our stay. Six people, but only one “couple” (and a tiny, old dog) and it felt like we all had enough space. Three bathrooms, two sitting rooms and a well-equipped kitchen helped. Even a bit of a sea view. “Welcome” supplies much appreciated. Quick walk down to the Co-op for supplies and a taxing hike back up the hill, home. Rented a Peugeot 2008, which neatly, but tightly fit the god-send parking space. Don’t drive anything larger! Cornwall is a bit damp, so the heating was helpful to dry things. Dog and niece enjoyed sunbathing in the pretty front yard.
Great place - lovely home great space excellent location from which to explore St Mawes and environs. Highly recommended.
St Mawes is a small fishing port located at the end of the Roseland Peninsula. St Mawes and other villages on the Roseland, such as Portloe, Portscatho and Portholland, are some of the most exclusive waterside villages in Cornwall, with plenty of activities and accommodation from self-catering cottages to hotels and bed and breakfasts. Being positioned within the Gulf Stream, the climate in St Mawes and on the Roseland Peninsula is mild all year round and during the summer, temperatures reach that of the Mediterranean. As a result, there are beautiful local gardens throughout the Roseland with exquisite fauna and flora.
St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula and the surrounding area is a Mecca for the boating and yachting fraternity and St Mawes boasts two boatyards with numerous moorings and anchorages for visiting yachtsman in and around the Roseland Peninsula. The local sailing club in St Mawes, Portscatho and Portloe are extremely active arranging racing events and evening functions for locals and visitors alike. Being on the seafront, these villages are also a haven for the gastro-enthusiast, with restaurants and pubs serving superb fish and shellfish dishes all year round as well as more traditional dishes.

Hi, my name is Tim, and I run a small business renting out holiday cottages in Cornwall and France called Cornishseaviewcottages . Whilst I don't live in Cornwall, I fell in love with it many years ago, and have been visiting regularly ever since, either to maintain the properties, or just to get away from life. There is something about the West country that makes you forget your worries, and remember what life should be about.
