Santa Sofia · 旅舍里的独立房间 · 1室3床1.0卫 · 可住3人 · Standard Triple Room with River View
Welcome to the Antica Filanda Hostel! We are in the historic center of Santa Sofia, nestled between the palaces of Piazza Matteotti: behind us we have a luxuriant garden - the Parco della Resistenza - and in front of us the Bidente river flows placidly. We are in a privileged position, in the Tuscan Romagna, where nature and history have always been intertwined giving life to a lively and hospitable community. Our structure has a long history behind it: the building is part of the possessions of the Mortani-Giorgi family, whose stately building located in Piazza Matteotti dates back to the end of the 17th century. Attached to the palace was a large spinning mill, since the silk industry had a very significant weight in the Santasofiese economy. Here, our rooms are located right inside that ancient spinning mill, one of the largest active in Santa Sofia in the nineteenth century: here many women found work who helped to improve the economic situation of their families, almost always linked to a unprofitable subsistence agriculture. It is with pride that we remember the past of our structure: the Antica Filanda is a tribute to what it was, in the name and in some details that characterize our rooms and our common areas. From here, from our roots, we begin to present our multifaceted territory.
CULTURE
Santa Sofia is the last village in the Bidente Valley, between the hills and the Apennines. The proximity to Tuscany has always contaminated the traditions and customs of Romagna, from art to gastronomy and today the country does not lose traditions looking to the future: home to important events related to art and culture - from the Campigna Award to the International Festival of Entertainment arts - is part of the Slow City circuit thanks to its gastronomic specialties that underline its tourist vocation and the tradition of a harmonious and compatible lifestyle.
The town is of medieval origin, but very few traces remain today.
With a pleasant walk you can admire the historic center, go up to the Castle area - of which today only the two access gates remain, with their vaulted arches -, descend into the riverbed of the Bidente and cross the Fluvial Park ...
An excellent ally for tourists is the “A Spasso” route, which with a series of panels accompanies the visitor to the discovery of Santa Sofia, among anecdotes and historical events.
For contemporary art lovers, there are two places not to be missed: the "Vero Stoppioni" Art Gallery, with the permanent section dedicated to Mattia Moreni, the Campigna Prize and temporary exhibitions, and the outdoor Sculpture Park, one space in progress and free access every day of the year, where you can find works by artists such as Mauro Staccioli, Anne and Patrick Poirier and Arnaldo Pomodoro, just to name a few.
SPORT AND NATURE
From a naturalistic point of view, much of the territory of the Municipality of Santa Sofia is located in the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna, an ideal destination for lovers of nature and sports in every season: the fir trees of Campigna, the meadows della Burraia, what remains of the mountain villages of San Paolo in Alpe or Pian del Grado are just some examples of the countless destinations reached by hikers.
In winter, then, the small ski area of Campigna allows you to practice cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, long walks with snowshoes and fun bob descents.
Even outside the borders of the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna there are routes of varying difficulty, to be covered on foot, by mountain bike or e-bike: from Santa Sofia you can easily reach certainly less famous destinations, but just as beautiful as Spinello, Camposonaldo, the Biserno valley and the one that goes from Santa Sofia to Corniolo.
Finally, an indisputable charm characterizes the artificial lake of Ridracoli, born following the construction of the dam of the same name and becoming a place of great naturalistic interest. The Ridracoli Dam is a destination for walks or bicycle rides and, in summer, it is possible to take part in boat or canoe trips on the lake. Not far from the dam is the IDRO water ecomuseum, an interesting scientific museum for the whole family.
TYPICAL PRODUCTS
After all this movement, the time has come to taste the local delicacies!
In Santa Sofia there is no shortage of Slow Food products and typical specialties to be tasted at certain times of the year:
• Raviggiolo, cheese to be eaten fresh, with a delicate flavor obtained from the cheese-making of raw cow's milk without breaking the curd and, subsequently, drained on fern leaves;
• tortello alla lastra, made up of a thin sheet of water and flour, stuffed inside with a tasty filling of pumpkin and potatoes or wild herbs, traditionally cooked on a sandstone slab;
• seasonal mushrooms, first of all porcini and sloes, with which to prepare delicious crostini or ragù to season first courses;
• products deriving from pork processing: greaves, “mad” sausage or ciavar (which also contains offal and less noble parts, flavored with garlic and Sangiovese), pancetta and much more ...
These are the gastronomic excellences of Santa Sofia, produced by local farms and present on restaurant tables, but they are just some of the delicacies that you can enjoy on our tables!
