Manasota Key is surrounded by Lemon Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other side, where this resort is located. The island is home to many types of wildlife including herons, bald eagles, pelicans, osprey, dolphins, manatees, tarpon, trout, red fish and snook. The beach is a fantastic place for scavenging for shells and shark’s teeth.
You can cast your line for fishing right off the beach or nearby fishing piers (get your visitor fishing license from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission online).
Boat rentals (fishing boats, pontoon boats, kayaks, jet skis, paddle-boards, guided boat tours and fishing charters that include fishing licenses) are conveniently located nearby.
Though Manasota Key has many other resorts, vacation rentals and private homes, this is a much quieter and less hectic beach town than the larger resort areas in Florida, especially in November and early December. Swimsuits, Shorts, T-shirts and Flip-Flops are all you'll need for your few minutes walk to 4 tiki-bars / restaurants right here on the Key.
Dozens of other restaurants, fast-food outlets, gift shops, stores, groceries, clinics and hospitals are a short drive away in Englewood, the Old Village of Englewood, Venice, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. If you are looking for a more urban Florida setting, Sarasota and Fort Myers are an hour's drive away.

There is a free shuttle service to take you just about anywhere you need to go on the Key. But only a few minutes walk away are : 4 tiki bars/restaurants, a pizza takeout, a Circle-K convenience store, a well stocked beach store for a wide selection of beachwear and souvenirs, and a seafood stand where you can buy a variety of seafood brought in 'fresh-off-the-boat' every day.
A short drive or a pleasant walk to the south end of the Key will get you to Stump Pass State Beach Park, where you can continue your walk along the beach and usually see dolphins and manatees in the Pass.
