There were a few issues that need to be addressed by the owners. There is water damage in the wooden floor below the shower door and it appears to have been there long enough to form mold and mildew. The shower door and pan was not installed properly and id causing the leak. My guess is there may be damage to the sub-flooring also. We also had a problem with the fans and lighting in the master bedroom and the screened in porch. We couldn't seem to get them to work. I may have been that the remote controls had gotten mixed up. I don't think this was the source of the problem but it would be good to mark the controls/by room location since the remotes are the same for the tvs and for the ceiling fans.

Our stay at the Mermaid Cottage was overall very good. The only downside was the fan in the master bedroom, screened in porch, and sunroom did not work. Also, the bathtub drains were quite awful. Especially the master bathroom tub. Didn’t drain at all and the jets were super dirty. Other then those minor complaints, the place was in a beautiful location, very thoughtful amenities, and great furniture and layout. We really did enjoy our stay and Vacasa was a great host for check in and check out.

Beautiful spot right near the marsh and 2 min drive to the beach. We stayed here for a festival in North Charleston, and were so glad we did. It was quite a drive (hour and a half with traffic), but worth it for the secluded area and beautiful cottage. We definitely plan on staying here again. Surroundings were quiet and there’s plenty of restaurants nearby. We loved Marsh Moon Cafe which is about 8 mins away by car. Also the state park beach was beautiful and has bathrooms/food. The little pond out back of the house was pretty. Beds were extremely comfortable and they had plenty of extra blankets and an extra fan in the closet. Washer/dryer was handy. Only thing is that the tap water doesn’t get super cold. I recommend bringing your own jugs of filtered water and also picking up some ice at a gas station if that’s an issue for you. Area felt very safe. We accidentally locked ourselves in and the host was very responsive and helped us resolve the issue quickly. Overall a great trip!

What a peaceful slice of heaven. amazing to wake up on a Monday morning and hear the roar of the ocean not sound of the highway. This stay is not directly on the beach. Edisto Island has taken the time to protect that relaxing vacation for those who value it. Tons to do and 3 minutes from the beach. Great shelling, swimming and water sports, golf, biking and more!!! All ages in our stay loved it!!😁
