Robert's place is located in an unspoiled area of north Florida amid a bird refuge and a state park. It feels fairly remote, but it's still just a short drive to Tallahassee in case of emergency. Robert has a deep knowledge of the area, and during my stay he was happy to recommend museums, bike trails, etc., or to discuss the lore associated with Sopchoppy and the surrounding areas. The accommodations are clean and comfortable and--for me--they were more than adequate; I had an entire floor of the house, that included two bedrooms and a bathroom. It would easily accommodate two couples. In short, yes: I highly recommend Robert's lodge.
Absolutely beautiful location. Robert is a wonderful host and very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay in Sopchoppy.

Wunderschön einsame und großzügige Unterkunft - direkt am sumpfigen Fluss gelegen. Die Kayaks durften wir frei mit benutzen. Das war super!!! Robert ist ein toller Gastgeber. Wir hatten das obere Stockwerk vom Haus und die konnten die Küche benutzen. Robert hat uns sehr viel Privatsphäre ermöglicht, so dass wir die meiste Zeit das Haus für uns hatten. Außerdem hatten wir das große Vergnügen, mit den Kayaks auf dem schwarzen Fluss zu fahren. Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit!

Filmmaker and nature based guide that has lived in this area since 1973. I live in a small town that has 400 people and is 35 miles and 100 years SW of Tallahassee Florida. I love kayak fishing, hiking and cycling and all can be done from our home. I enjoy cooking and creating meals from the local waters. I have traveled wildly and others often use our home as an escape from civilization location. I love giving the tour of the area to others and hearing that it is wild and wonderful from those who come. I have found that the experiences of traveling Florida for over 40 years makes for great destination planning for our guests. Take advantage of our knowledge while you are here.
