Our home is designed for maximum comfort, relaxation, and pleasure, with couches, loungers and hammocks on both levels; a large, modern kitchen, 3 screened-in bedrooms, 3 baths, outdoor shower, some A/C, hot water, laundry, and path to a private swimming beach with epic marine life. It's your private paradise. With NO INTERNET! Which we believe is the biggest luxury of all. This is more than a home. It's an experience. Casa Paz is not for everyone. It's remote, there's a bumpy dirt road in and 69 steps down to the house, and we have forsaken the internet. Because Casa Paz is more than a home. It's a sanctuary, a getaway for your mind. A place to deeply connect with nature, friends, family, and self. There are precious few places in the world that are EMF free. It's therapeutic to be in an environment where people don't stare at their screens every idol minute. But yet if you need connection, there's 3G service at the top of the steps inside the carport. And wireless internet at Hotel Bahia de la Luna next door. Having no internet is a conscious choice. We know it's not for everyone. But if you're ready to unplug and enjoy a brief digital detox, the rewards are immense. Our home is perched on a vertiginous cliff, with expansive ocean views and the feeling of being enveloped by the trees in the jungle. The sound of the ocean is constant. It's definitely not safe for young children. And sorry, we don't allow pets. But the moment you cross the bridge and enter the front door, you'll be cradled by a soothing peace that only nature can provide. The main living area is an open, palapa "tree house," surrounded by nature, cantilevered over a cliff, capturing the cool sea breeze, with unforgettable views of the warm Pacific. You'll be mesmerized by the unspoiled, mountainous Costa Chica coastline, the turquoise waters in the shallows, the white sandy beach beneath you, and the relaxing "white noise" of the ocean. The living space has many modular seating offerings, with built-in couches, hammocks, deck and lounge chairs. Mostly you'll want to sway in the hammocks. listen to the ocean, and rest your mind. But for times when it's still, there are overhead fans in every room. The palapa is your hangout space day and night. It's where you'll track the myriad of colors and moods that transpire over the course of the day, and a sky full of stars at night, with indoor and outdoor accent lighting to set the mood. You can play tunes on the provided bluetooth speakers. Just be sure to download your playlist onto your phone before you arrive. And when you feel like movement, you can clear the furniture and create a dance and yoga space (plenty of mats provided.) On the same level are 2 ensuite, screened-in bedrooms with queen beds, one with a viewing deck into the jungle. Everything is furnished with original Oaxacan crafts - the sconces, pillows, sinks, wall hangings, and rugs. But the most exceptional feature is the artisan woodwork throughout the home. All the doors, cabinetry, shelves, and closets were crafted by young master carpenter Luis Pinacho, using locally sourced tropical hardwoods. We treasure his work. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE OPEN- AIR UPSTAIRS. We rely on overhead fans and the cooling ocean breeze. The air-conditioned downstairs studio suite features open plan living, with high ceilings for volume. The 10 foot barn doors retract to create one continuous indoor-outdoor space. The family room features two sofas, a desk, and a chef's kitchen with stainless appliances and ample workspace. Dine at the counter or the patio. The flagstone patio is the perfect hang-out spot, cantilevered over the sea. A river rock wall frames the space, with steps and built-ins fashioned from native stone formations. With a locally crafted, live edge dining table made of tropical hardwood, it's an inspired place to dine or chill, with two hammock chairs, a built-in cushioned banquette, tanning deck, delicious outdoor shower, and whitewater views over the beach. The backyard has a garden and path to Playa del Sol, your private beach. The back bedroom with queen bed is on a mezzanine level for views, and has a full bathroom. The water in the indoor showers and kitchen sink are solar heated. We like tepid showers as well. We believe the home sets up best for one or two couples. You'll enjoy maximum privacy. However, the open plan downstairs has a queen bed, and full bathroom. So its great for 2 additional people to share. And again we'd like to emphasize that the 2 kilometer road in is bumpy and rutted. Many drive it everyday, but for those not used to it, it can seem daunting. We don't believe a 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary, but you will want a high clearance vehicle if possible.
