What to do?
You have plenty of various trails in the area. The famous iron trail (Järnleden) is a quality-assured trail in Värmland, and plenty more special trails. "Visit Värmland" tourist center for more information.
You have the lake Alkvettern ten minutes walking distance, for bath and swim.
You have the inland sea Vänern 20 min by car, there you can hike on the islands between Vålön, Kalvön and Sibberön there is a four km hiking trail. You can easily get around between the islands that are connected by footbridges. There are both sandy- and rocky beaches. In the nature reserve Sibberön you walk on untouched lands and forests. There is canoe rental or rowing boat in Kristinehamn (20 minuter by car). Take the canoe out to the Picasso sculpture.
Boda Borg is for both children and grow ups and a type of adventure questioning house. You choose your challenges yourself and it's both thinking, physical and collaboration. You won't be disappointed. (20 min with car). Check it out on internet.
For the restless children there is a big adventure water land (45 min with car) Gustavsvik Lost City...
....but don't forget the forest next to the" torp" if you want only birds singing and walking around all by your self. In the fall there is plenty of kantarells, various mushrooms.
If you are interested in birds there is plenty and also rare species, you will have them singing when the sun is up, except for the owl and the bats when the moon shines;)
If you need a break from nature and the open fire downstairs, there is a large screen, good wifi and sound to watch a film upstairs
