Ava and Darwin are lovely people, and their Cacao Center is amazing. Staying with them felt like staying with family. Darwin gave amazing recommendations and could often be found hanging out around the property. The on site resturant and kitchen staff are AMAZING. The absolute best food in Puerto Maldonado. We ate there almost daily. They also have some monkeys and capybara who frequent the property. Almost no negatives, but a prewarnings I wish I had known: -The bathroom has no door: it's still pretty private, but small and no door. -The room itself (bungalow) is on the resturant property. The door and a window face the resturant seating. It was pretty common for people to essentially be able to come up and look right in. -Probably obvious, but, you're in the jungle: lots of bugs! The door doesn't quite close all the way on one side, so you get quite a few at night. Overall this is a highly recommended stay. Very kind people and a gorgeous property.

Great place, you feel right at the heart of nature and get a chance to see lots of wildlife. Ava and Darwin and the cleaning staff/staff in the restaurant were incredibly kind and helpful during our stay. The onsite restaurant was amazing and we felt thoroughly looked after throughout! Highly recommend for a peaceful little getaway!

Such a special experience! I felt right at home and really enjoyed the space and location. It’s a very comfortable room with a great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner attached to it, which was super convenient. I received great recommendations and had a fantastic time meeting new people and seeing lots of animals and nature. Would highly recommend!

The perfect accommodation. on the edge of the city and the jungle. Able to access all local amenities while staying in a wilderness location at the same time. Darwin's expert advice proved extremely valuable when learning about the local flora and fauna. The kitchen is operated by very capable personnel to deliver delicious food and drink. Bravo!

We loved our stay at Ava and Darwin's place. From the moment we got there, it felt like we were part of their little community. Having the restaurant and bar immediately adjacent to the room was fantastic and we appreciated having a native English speaker in Ava with years of local experience. The food at the restaurant was amazing. Darwin even took us for a walk down to the river to help us spot the sloths, pointing out four sloths in half an hour. We saw a heap of monkeys from our room too. Darwin's passion for the Amazon really shone through in our dealings with him.
