Meet Ace-NOTE A/C is being installed in June!! Ace is simple. Ace is pure. Ace is pretty but we're sure she doesn't know it. This consistently refreshed aframe cabin in the heart of the Smoky Mountains is the perfect respite from crazy long work days and endless errands. You cannot help but to slow down here. Nestled within a rain forest in the Smoky Mountains, the weather is moody and Ace's comfort is specifically geared toward taking full advantage of all 4 seasons. We didn't intend for Ace to be a short term rental, but she has provided us with so much joy, we want to occasionally share her magic with others. The thought that she may sit empty for long periods of time makes us sad and the demand to allow guests to experience her quiet simplicity has become exciting. We will be booking only 2 reservations per month so we can visit ourselves between each, ensuring a perfectly staged and welcoming visit for each set of guests. Ace has an open living, dining and kitchen area that boast soaring ceilings and a wall of windows that blurs your understanding of inside/outside. You can sit on the new, comfy couches and you never have to choose between the fireplace or the view of the outdoors, because the furniture has been thoughtfully positioned to take full advantage of the space. The kitchen is small, but efficient, and fully equipped. There is a laundry room with new appliances and a large pantry area to keep whatever you don’t want to leave out on the counter. You see, minimalism thrives in this luxe, retro space, offering no distractions from your ambient setting. The view changes seasonally, with mountain views in the winter, lush forest views in the Spring and Summer, and knock your socks off fall color in Autumn. Ace is furnished with a combination of new items and a collection of MCM furniture that we've either hand plucked from our primary residence or have acquired from our favorite resale shops. Reducing, Reusing and Recycling is valued by our family and we hope you also enjoy the steps we've taken to minimize our footprint by way of selecting gentler, eco friendly home products and avoidance of single use disposables. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on the main level, and a cozy lofted main bedroom and bathroom that bring all the cozy, treehouse vibes. We love to both begin and end the day with a dip in the hot tub, regardless of the season. Don’t forget to grab your pool towels and drink before you head out back. All of the beds are newer with a King in the main bedroom, a Queen in one guest room and 2 twins in the other. Soft and cozy linens are on all of the beds, with extra blankets strewn throughout the entire house. There is no central heat/AC, but minimal use of just a few of the baseboard heaters and/or the fireplace, will keep you as warm as you want to be. In the summer months, the temperature never climbs to an uncomfortable degree and you won't even miss the A/C when you open the house up to the crisp, fresh mountain air. We promise, this home lacks for nothing you need to achieve total comfort. Golden hour on the deck is not to be missed. It should always include great tunes (there's a bluetooth speaker on the bar), candles, and whatever relaxation tools you use to melt into your surroundings. The deck has a conversation area and a dining area that accommodates 8 and is the perfect place to enjoy the view. With the gate on the deck left open to the back yard, 4 legged family members can easily access the fenced in play space. The neighborhood is quiet and has a good mix of full time residents and second home havers such as ourselves. It is a lovely place for a strenuous and rewarding walk, and there are cascading waterfalls of various sizes and activity located throughout the neighborhood. The basement is currently unfinished and used primarily as storage, and that is closed off from access. Linens are stored on both the first and second level linen closets, and there are multiple smart televisions and reliable wi-fi throughout the space.
Megan was a fantastic host. She was very helpful with suggestions and tips. The cabin is super cozy with lots of comfortable extras like fuzzy blankets and pillows and vintage decor. We had a small snafu with the hot tub availability but she was very proactive in communicating about it and promptly offered a discount when it couldn't be resolved during our stay. The place was perfect for our family of 5 and the kids loved the outdoor space and roasting marshmallows. The local recommendations were all fantastic and we cannot wait to come back someday. Would 100% recommend Megan and this rental for anyone looking to stay in the Smoky Mountains with convenient access to everything but a peaceful retreat to relax in between activities.
Wonderful retro-styled cabin nestled in the mountains. Had a great view off the deck. Cabin was clean and had comfy furniture for all the relaxation you want! Host was super responsive and friendly.
Great communication from host. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed for a week long stay. The jacuzzi was an extra treat that the family really enjoyed.
It’s a cute little old style wood paneling cabin on a mountain with many other little cabins/homes. There are a lot of neighbors it’s not exactly private the cabin is definitely colder than expected but it was well stocked. The heating system was outdated so it took time to heat and then it was difficult to control the temperature. It’s a very old style electric radiant heating system, when it’s 26° outside the heat becomes very important. It did work, it just took time, and as I said difficult to control the temperature, it would get too hot.
Maggie Valley experienced a tourist boom in the 1960's and much of it's charm is still reminiscent of this time. The Cataloochee Ski area is just outside of our neighborhood and in the winter months, Tube World, a snow tubing spot, is just a few minutes up Soco Rd. Visit Elevated Mountain Distillery and schedule a tour, or check out the live music offerings at the Stompin Ground. There are festivals year round and the area is a huge draw to motorcycle enthusiasts and the Wheels Through Time Museum downtown.
There is water everywhere to be accessed. Parks and creekfront restaurants abound and Soco Falls should not be missed. A quick drive to the Blue Ridge parkway offers up jaw dropping views of this pristine mountain area within the Blue Ridge mountain range and the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee is a super fun adult destination.
Asheville is a quick 45 minute drive away and offers dining, breweries and art/culture that is second to none, but we fully encourage you to spend a good deal of time in our smaller area towns. Among our favorites are Waynesville (15 minutes), Sylva and Dillsboro (30 minutes and our favorites), and Bryson City (45 minutes West).
Whether you are coming to the area to hike, bike, kayak, brewery hop or experience the 4 seasons, Maggie Valley is perfectly located to access everything.
You will need a car. Driving services are very limited and other than beautiful scenery, there's not much you can walk to. The grocery store is in nearby Waynesville, about a 15 minute drive away. We have not stayed in the area during snowy weather, but our neighbors and the previous owner tell us there are no issues and no need for 4 wheel drive to access the property.

I am a real estate professional and mother of 3. My husband and I love mid-century design and work together running our business and family. Our mountain cabin is our little slice of heaven and we are happy to share it with others who need some "down time". We love to travel and much prefer the hand curated feel of a private home over a stiff hotel.
