Firstly, the location & property size was perfect for us. However, the heating didn’t work. It was so cold in the property, we couldn’t take our coats off. I contacted Fergus, he said he’d noticed the oil had run out the day before we arrived & couldn’t replace it until the day after we left! Our Irish family told us you can buy oil from the garage to top the tank up, but Fergus said a plumber would need to bleed the boiler after top up; he couldn’t guarantee it would work; he was away visiting his family so it was out of his control & all we could do was light the fire in the living room. We got extra blankets from family for the cold night. The next day he said oil was coming, it didn’t. We lit the fire, but went to visit family, so it went out. It was so cold. After trying to rectify this problem amicably, Airbnb accepted our complaint & refunded part of our fee. We left a day early & had our last night somewhere else. We don’t understand why he didn’t tell us before we arrived.

La ubicación es perfecta, Portaloise es una ciudad bonita y tranquila. Además, está bien situada para moverte por Irlanda al estar en medio del mapa. La casa es muy acogedora, con habitaciones amplias. Yo destacaría la cocina/comedor que está muy bien equipada. Fergus, el anfitrión, es amable y responde muy rápido a las cuestiones que le planteas. En general, es una casa perfecta. Lo único a destacar que nos pasó a nosotros es que el aceite de la calefacción se terminó al segundo día de nuestra estancia y aunque Fergus nos indicó que podíamos utilizar la chimenea, no lo hicimos por el poco tiempo que pasábamos en la casa (sólo para desayunar y cenar, ya que estábamos todo el día de ruta). Al ser días de vacaciones, también en Irlanda, no se pudo reponer el aceite. En mi opinión, dado que es un servicio que se ofrece, se debería haber repuesto entre la salida del último inquilino y nosotros para evitar este pequeño inconveniente. Pero, aparte de este detalle, todo fue genial.

Fergus was an extremely helpful host, especially when I locked myself out. He responded to all my questions very quickly. The house was very comfortable and very convenient to Portlaoise

We stayed here after moving house 5 times over christmas due to our house going on fire. We chilled out here for 5 days before moving to a rented house. Fergus sent a very handy guide to the house and was available for any queries we had. Thanks Fergus

We were in Portlaoise for a family function and the location of the house was perfect, close enough to walk into the centre of town. There was turf for the fireplace, which was great, with everything else we needed for our stay.
