Our stay at Sabache was hit or miss. The guides up the mountain were good, the rest of the staff were lackluster. The camp didn’t have our reservation when we arrived, and we had to spend a bit of time trying to connect to cellular data (we knew there was no wifi at the camp) to download and email a reservation confirmation from AirBnB to the person who claimed to be the camp manager-but he also didn’t seem to know who the host was or what AirBnB was. Our driver tried to explain that to him a few times, and our driver wasn’t even affiliated with the camp. It was very weird and set an odd tone for the rest of the trip. We were initially given a tent that had a broken zipper, so an entire side wouldn’t close. We notified camp staff immediately and were initially told not to worry about it and that they would fix it in the morning. Mind you there are wild animals in very close proximity here. However, bugs began entering the tent and we asked for a new tent. They moved us to a new tent, but it was beside the kitchen and the main office and was very noisy early in the morning, starting around 5am, and then there was also noise until about midnight. The camp bar/kitchen ran out of drinks while we were there even though there had only been a couple of guests ask for minimal beer at dinner, and we had to constantly ask for water. In the middle of an arid region where you can’t drink the tap water, access to water should really be improved here. We had also messaged via AirBnB about the meal plan we wanted and the activities we hoped to do, but the staff didn’t know the activities either. They kept changing our plans and the camp car for game drives was broken down. Thankfully one of the guides arranged with an independent game driver and car for us, but it was more expensive than what we had planned for given the camp rates originally quoted via AirBnB. This place is also relatively expensive compared to all other places we stayed during our three weeks in Kenya. We’ve stayed in tented camps and resorts, and even the 5-star resort was nearly the same price as this camp, and we had meals already included at the resort. The value here is not good. So to summarize, it was fine, but no more than mediocre. I definitely would not stay here again and would not recommend it. There are better value places in the area.

Ok, where do I begin. I have traveled quite a lot around the world. This is by far, my favorite place. I cannot believe that I found it on Airbnb. This place is a true gem. The location is gorgeous & even more beautiful are the people working here. They went out of their way to make sure we felt safe, comfortable and adventurous at the same time. This camp is located in the middle of two mountains at a nice height & the river runs through in front of the tents. You can hear it all night :) The rooms are very clean and equipped. They have everything you'd need for both short and long term stays. There is so much to do here, you could literally spend a month exploring everything - wildlife, mountain climbing, hiking, learning about the Samburu culture, et al. Emily is very responsive, the communications were so clear and she was in constant touch before, throughout and after our trip. They have vehicles there which you could hire along with a driver to explore the area, they can help you plan your entire trip. We went to all the fanciest restaurants in Nairobi, but the food here the best we had in Kenya, the chef is a star. I am vegan, they made such good food I had to take the recipes from them. A team of 10-15 people work on-site, and every single one of them is such a nice person. They really do go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. I cannot wait to be back. This place has my heart.
