Our stay at Monica and Daniel's was among the best airbnb experiences we have ever had. The cottage is extremely clean, tastefully decorated with no clutter, the kitchen is nicely equipped and functional, the water heater provides hot water on demand, you will appreciate that this part of Ecuador, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The property overlooks the lake with a beautiful view, with numerous hummingbirds. The hosts are equally exceptional. Daniel picked us up in Ibarra and drove us back there when it was time for us to leave. They left beautiful avocados in the cottage, they grow on the property, and they were helpful with any questions we had. They made us feel welcome and we never felt that we were bothering them. The location also is excellent: just a 15 minute bus ride to Ibarra, it costs $0.30. In Ibarra, there are plenty of nice places to eat and cafes in the downtown core with small markets and a larger supermarket. It also is close to Cotacachi and Otavalo. We very warmly recommend staying at Monica and Daniel's place and visiting Ibarra and the surrounding small towns.

Where to begin… We stayed in Monica and Daniel’s cottage for a total of 3 months. The cottage is one of the most beautiful places we saw during our time in Ecuador (and we visited many different places during our time there). Perfect for couples, well-pointed kitchen, and a beautiful garden surrounds the property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, Monica and Daniel were fabulous hosts, helping us with the bus system, general recommendations, tips and tricks - you name it - you won’t find better hospitality. We came as guests but are leaving as good friends. Thank you for everything and we hope to return as soon as possible!

Communication before I arrived was excellent, with detailed instructions on how to get to the property. During my stay Monica and Daniel were on hand to answer any questions and were really helpful with my onward transport. The cottage was just as nice as it looked in the photos, very clean and well equipped. I had a good stay and would have liked to have been there longer. Thank you very much, Daniel and Monica, for being lovely hosts and putting in extra effort to ensure a great stay!

Monica and Daniel were fantastic hosts. They’re place is a little slice of paradise nestled in a picturesque setting. Absolutely loved our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone hoping for some peace and quiet overlooking beautiful lake Yahuarcocha.
