What a brilliant find. Very relaxed and chilled out with brilliant beaches not far away. Quirky and homely apartment - clean and well equipped. Comfy beds. Johanna and Ronnie are brilliant hosts and really helpful with ideas on what to do and good local restaurants. They hooked us up with a really good surfing coach for the kids and Spike (Woof), Benji (Meow), Boris (Meow) and Jackie (Meow) deserve a shout out for making us welcome and knowing when to turn up to give you a bit of welcome company. Great place to relax in the evening and have a BBQ with enough outdoor space for kids to play in a safe environment. We have already reserved our next stay.
We had a wonderful time at Johanna’s place. It is beautiful. The place has so many thoughtful touches, we desperately want to return! It was also great for our young children; there was so much there for them. Johanna is so welcoming, a lovely energy and so helpful with recommendations for local places to visit/eat etc. It was one of the best air bnbs we have been to, we loved it. Highly recommended!

I, Johanna, am a Dutch woman, born in the 60’s, into a shipbuilder’s family near Rotterdam. My husband (Ronny) and I have five grown up kids, living & working in Holland (The Hague & Amsterdam) and France (Lyon), and happily blessed being grandparents of Badu (February 2018, Tom (August 2019), Ziggy (March 2020, Mosey (May 2022) and soon, our new born granddaughter (March 2023). As true lovers of nature and sports, we decided to move from the Netherlands to the beautiful surroundings of Sintra Cascais Natural Park in Portugal in 2016. The house that caught our eye in Assafora offered such opportunities, that the decision to accommodate guests was easily made. After my studies (in Switzerland) in the 1980’s, I was in the lucky circumstance to travel to all continents in our world, encountering amazing and great people triggering my ever existing interest in meeting people. That is one of the main reasons I am looking forward to welcome you at our new place in this beautiful country and to warmly receive you in either English, French, Dutch, German and by now also in the Portuguese language!
