The place is located in a serene village setting. The chalet has two bedrooms with a spacious living and dining area with lots of outdoor chairs and even a outdoor table. There is piped running water into the unit and electricity. At the time of my stay the kitchen was still being completed but from the decor and furnishings in the living room and bedroom I anticipate that no expense will be saved to furnish and finish the kitchen to impeccable standards. The compound is big and there are trees planted and the lawn is well kept. The care taker living in the next compound was responsive to my calls for directions and the road to the house is murram but passable to even small vehicles, it is about 7 minutes drive from the main tarmac road to the place. There is a shopping center to buy fruits veges and many other amenities 15 minutes by car. All in all the place is a gem and the pricing is a steal. I'd recommend it for a weekend gateaway from town and the host for being responsive to my calls. Visit and you'll not want to leave.

To make it short: When you get to know the host, a very outgoing humorous person with a weakness for powerful music, you are accepted in the whole village as they will be informed of your arrival. You become part of it and can easily and safely walk around even in the night. Neighbours are always good to have for a chat and some local advice. Be prepared for a lot of pictures. Location: The village itself is located in a very prominent area. The Victoria Lakes are easy to reach by car (around 30 min). These are the origin of the river Nile. Not far away from here you can visit the house of Obama’s fahter, who grew up not far from here, something one definitely should visit. Thanks to the host we spent a great time at the beach area, where we enjoyed a vibrant night life. The house: It is in the middle of the village, accessible by car till the entrance (5 meter walk till the door), nonetheless you can hang out and party as if you was alone, the surrounding idyllic gardens make you feel very much relaxed and calm. This combination of welcoming people from the still village as well as the possibility to party, cook, chill and be loud at the same time made it must for me to visit. If this is still not enough, then you can enjoy Kisumu nightlife with good drinks and music at several bars and clubs. What’s more waking up in the morning you can see plenty of these colourful paradise birds flying around the house while having breakfast consisting of local fruits like mangos, bananas, oranges, watermelons, avocados you name it, for example. Concerning mosquitos: I did not have any issues, as we sprayed the rooms, the host leaves some there, you don’t have to worry about them as long as you use it. From my side, I strongly recommend visiting this village as you are not only isolated, cared for foreigners there but short time members of the Luo tribe with a lot of space and recognition. Hope I will return.
