纽约 · 出租单元里的独立房间 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住1人 · Beautiful huge room with a lovely Bay Window
Beautiful and very large room with a lovely bay window and wonderful light for short-term rental in literary writer's huge sun-drenched Hamilton Heights apartment. Completely and tastefully furnished. Delightfully located: a minute's walk from the No. 1 train and near stores, cafes, and supermarkets, and charmingly situated on lovely tree-lined brownstone block in the W. 140s, off Riverside Drive. The neighborhood has lots of little restaurants and a student/artist mix. It's a bookish huge apartment. My roommates are often graduate or ph.d students. It's quiet and peaceful.
Pros: -Size and furnishings of room as advertised -Vibrant, artistic neighborhood with good food -Riverside Park is very nice and just a block away -Good price Cons: -Windows in this room are facing Broadway Ave, which can sometimes get loud on weekend nights (at least in August) -Host had roughly 5-10 additional rules/preferences that were not clear in the listing. It would have been nice to have them in writing beforehand and/or posted somewhere visible in the apartment -Host prefers that kitchen activities not happen during quiet hours, which wasn't clear to me when I booked and meant that I needed to adjust my morning routine. I think the listing has been updated since to reflect that -Host does not like electronics to be left charging when you are not there and will enter your room to unplug them On a whole, not the right fit for me in the long term, but might fit better with others depending on your style
Annie is a beautiful and friendly host. She also has great tips on sites to see in the city.
The neighborhood which has a family/artist/student mix is peaceful along Riverside Drive (trees, benches, views of the river below and the George Washington Bridge) and Broadway has cafes, stores, groceries, and coffee shops. Columbia University is an easy walk, or 3 stops (a 5-minute ride) on the subway on the 1 train which is a minute’s walk from the apartment. There are the Cloisters (a part of the Metropolitan Museum) further uptown, and Grant’s Tomb further down on Riverside Drive. Hamilton Grange, the house where Alexander Hamilton lived in, is five minutes away. Jumel Mansion is also nearby. Very close by is Riverbank Park, with an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a running track. There is Riverside Park to explore and the bike path by the river. Riverside Drive is perfect for runs or long walks.
The No. 1 train is a minute's walk from the apartment at the 145th St. stop (at Broadway). There are buses a minute away, and the A, B, C, D trains are a five minute walk away at the 145th St. stop.
