Maison D'Amis ( The friend's house) is a comfortable and relaxing place to stay to discover the Lot and the surrounding area, including Rocamadour, Saint- Cirq-Lapopie, Puy l'Évêque and the Dordogne. Maison D’Amis is situated just 10 minutes walk, on the flat, from the centre of the village of Prayssac in the Lot. The property has been converted from a tobacco drying barn in to comfortable accommodation for two people and is located within the grounds of our house, giving plenty of privacy and plenty of open space, in fact 6000 square meters of it! Staying close to the village means the car can take a rest too and if you enjoy good food, as we do, then you are in for a treat. There is all that you need to hand locally, including a very good and very popular weekly market (Fridays) with a fantastic choice of fresh food, most of it grown locally and there are many organic growers there each week too. The shops include three boulangeries, all selling different breads, two good size grocery stores, high quality butchers, excellent cheese shops and five coffee shop/bars. If you feel like going out to eat then you have a large choice of places to try, whether you stay in the village or head a little further afield. We are happy to give you as much or as little information as you need and, having lived and rented out here here for over 20 years, we have built up quite a bit of knowledge that we love to share. The property is ideal for those passing through and looking for a base from which to explore and we are happy to rent on a bed and breakfast basis (min four nights) or a little longer. If you enjoy contact with local people then you are in the right place and if you love your wine, being in the Cahors region there is plenty of choice, in fact it can start at our neighbour’s house where you will receive a warm welcome. The property consists of large lounge/diner and kitchen on the ground floor, leading to a covered terrace with BBQ and lovely views up over the hills behind the village and, weather permitting, a wonderful sunset each evening. Upstairs there is a shower room with basin, toilet and shower cubicle, and double bedroom plus a mezzanine area with comfortable chairs and a large choice of books. The house has been renovated to make it easy to live in: a wide staircase with large treads and wide doors leading in and out of the property. The kitchen has a gas/electric hob, fan assisted oven, microwave, plenty of cupboard space and undercounter fridge with freezer compartment. In the lounge/dining area there is the dining table, plenty of sitting space and TV with terrestrial and satellite reception. The property has wifi internet (Fibre) access as well. Having the shops and markets so close enables you to take advantage of wonderful local produce, ideal for an evening at home if going out is not on the menu! There really is so much to see! The property is well situated for a day out in the Dordogne, with the town of Sarlat just an hour away or a visit to Agen in the Lot-et-Garonne – Toulouse is just over an hour and a half away too, and not forgetting all the beautiful villages close by to be visited. Activities – where do we start? They include tennis, horse riding, rock climbing and marked cycling and walking routes. There are also the lakes and river beaches to relax by that are just a short drive away, . If you are planning a visit, let us know your interests and will be happy to offer some suggestions. If cycling is your passion then you won't be disappointed - quiet roads, loads of climbing if you like that or just stay on the flat - with or without coffee stops, on or off road.
