Le Point is a traditional Provençal village house in the Luberon national park with loads of character. Located in the roofed village of Cucuron at the foot of the Luberon hills amidst spectacular landscapes. The house has everything you need to self cater or 7 bars and restaurants are a short stroll away. It is great as a base for site seeing, exploring the wine trails, tasting the delights of provencal food and simply for a relaxing break if that is your desire. The house has a downstairs bedroom with super king size bed and a vaulted ceiling, which keeps it cooler in the summer, and in the winter there is a fireplace for a log fire. Off of the main bedroom is a bathroom with bath and good over bath shower, wardrobe and washing machine. The second bedroom/dressing room is off of the main bedroom and features the murals of artist and family member Mary Adshead who bought renovated the house in the 1970's. The kitchen is equiped with hob, oven, grill, microwave and all of the kitchen equipment needed to cook up a meal. The village market is on Tuesdays. There is plenty of reading material and games, although most are in English.
Medieval apartment with loads of character in charming village. Cave like bedrooms that are pleasantly cool during the night. Stairs are steep with large steps. Cozy living room with nice cooking area. Convenient base to explore the Luberon. Excellent info beforehand. The YouTube link was very helpfull to locate the apartment as it is somewhat hidden in a back street that is not accessible by car.
The house is part of the original medieval village. It has been in the family since 1970’s and was restored by the muralist Mary Adshead, wife is artist Stephen Bone.
The village is at the foot of the Luberon hills, with good walking and cycling country around. The countryside around is prominently vines and there is a co-operative cave based in the village.
The centre of Cucuron is the large rectangular Carp Pond, fed by water from the Luberon hills. It has restaurants and a bar and a pleasant place to relax and watch the world go by. The restaurants include 'La Petite Maison de Cucuron' which has a Michelin star (as does La Closerie a short drive away in Ansouis).
The view from the Donjon around the corner from the house is wonderful.
There is a pleasant swimming lake, Etang de la Bonde, with beach and cafe 6km, 7 minutes drive or a 25 minute cycle from the village.
The village is served by a small local bus that you can use to get to other villages, markets or Pertuis to join the train network. Check the timetable here:
