Our stay at the Manitu and Lost Dog Cabin was very enjoyable and you can’t beat the beautiful location. The lake is gorgeous and this property is very private with a lot of flat land to let the dogs run or play games on. The Manitu was very clean and well decorated - I loved the Canadian decor touches and the Group of Seven paintings on the wall. Was very cozy and a true cottage feel. The Lost dog cabin steps over from the Manitu was also very clean and has the flush toilet bathroom and stand up shower. All the bed lines were crisp white, clean, and include duvets. Upon checking in employees of the Voyageur Outfitters took us to the property and we we were given a tour, explained some features of the cabin and asked us if we needed anything. We were surprised to have 2 large water jugs filled with drinkable water provided. The tap water is good for doing dishes and brushing your teeth but not potable. Someone came by the property once a day to check in on us and got us anything we needed. When first reading about our check ins I was annoyed, but this proved to be a wonderful service, as they refilled the water jugs, and got us extra toilet paper! Everyone was so friendly and they all just wanted to ensure we we’re having a great time. One issue with the Manitu is you are not allowed to plug in any external devices into the outlets. The cabins are run off of solar power but not enough to support more than the lights and water pump. This information was misleading as we read it has electricity and thought we had full access; we were traveling with a young baby so renting a cottage with electricity was a must. But in the end John was very accommodating and supportive of the situation , and it was all sorted out. There is also no cell service but it was lovely to unplug and not have everyone glued to their phones! Overall our stay was great, and the fishing was great, they even provide you with a canoe for the weekend. We also rented a stand up paddle board for 2 days, they delivered it for us a day early, and picked it up back up! What service! We had a great time!
A great location. We were a little unlucky as our group rented the cottages during a fire ban. Ensure that you use the description of the facilities in the Airbnb listing when you are evaluating this place. The documentation you are sent afterwards does contain some errors about the facilities that they hopefully will correct soon. Regsdlrss, it was fun being off the grid for a few days hanging out by the lake. The canoeing and the local hiking trails were beautiful.
Algonquin Park offers beautiful lakes, rivers to paddle. Look for moose, eagles, otters, beavers, loons and other wildlife.
