The home Kingscliff Balinese Beachfront Retreat is beautiful and the pool (not heated) was great to relax in. Very close to the beach, just had to walk down the backyard, onto the path less than 100 m to the sand. The home is looking tired and worn and is a lot smaller than the description and photos show. All but one of the bedrooms had an unpeasant stale smell that didn't go away. The home is not child safe due to the stairs, outdoor verandahs and no back fence. The bedsheets were quite rough (cheap) but we paid 5 star prices to stay here - better quality amenties and adding little touches to match the cost would have made it a more pleasurable stay. Unfortunately there are safety issues at the Kingscliff Balinese Beachfront Retreat. The clothes line collapsed on the both of us, the metal frame hitting me on the head and arm - i am pregnant so this is a very disappointing safety concern. The fridge was not working correctly and this resulted in the fridge not being cold - spoilt meat and dairy products worth $40 had to be discarded resulting in additional costs to us. Spoilt food is not safe for anyone especially being pregnant. Bug/pest droppings around the home, including bedroom floor and bed, possibly mouse droppings. Lots of bird droppings on outdoors cushions, pool could have been cleaner. Food from the previous guest was left on the dining table. There was water leaking in the downstairs bathroom. The owners would be better managing the property themselves. Considering the price we paid (upwards of $700 per night) there were no personal touches, or even milk in the fridge when we arrived. There was only one towel provided per guests, some bathrooms didnt have a hand towel. Very poor communication by LJ Hooker - they made no contact at all after we booked the Balinese Beachfront retreat. We called them on the day of check in - no answer, no one returned our calls/voicemail or replied to our messages on airbnb. I had to call the general LJ Hooker Office to finally speak to someone. We followed up with a phonecall to let them know when we were nearby but when we arrived no one was there. When he did arrive, he said he didnt have the keys as they accidently gave them to another guest down the road so we had to wait while he got them. This should have been done before we arrived. We've stayed at a lot of air bnbs around the world and it feels disappointing to have an experience like this.
