This is where you can experience what scores of egyptians put up with on a daily basis! Very authentic apartment, real Egyptian style. Not clean. No windows in the living room, except a window to the world (aka tv). Nice balcony to sit in and watch street life, good wifi, a well-stocked tiny convenience store with hospitable people downstairs, in a central location. If you want a ride back "home", any taxi driver will know the hawawshi al-Rifai in Abdeen, at the corner, that is convenient. A word of caution for female travellers: there are many loitering and staring men around the restaurant and car workshops, and the building has no guard or lockable gate downstairs. We (mother and teenage daughter) had a terrifying experience: one evening we were followed up the stairs by a young man who sexually harassed my daughter in front of our apartment.

The flat had everything I needed for my 10 day stay in Cairo, especially the hot shower and laundry, and was located in a safe area close to the metro station. The hosts are very friendly and helpful for anything you should need help with during your stay. I would choose this place again for my next visit to Cairo!

I really enjoyed my stay. People may think where am I when you entrance the hallway but dont hesitate! The apartment is clean but in old condotion but I like vintage style. Ahmed and Mohamed are really the best hosts you can imagine, super friendly and after minutes you feel like knowing them already for a long time. Although even my egyptian friends say how can you stay in Abdeen quarter for me it was the best decision. There you can explore real egyptian urban life, people are so friendly, you always feel safe even at night, many options to explore streetfood, very close to Metro ( Mohamed Naguib Station). just a 7 min. wallk dowtown to Tahir and Nile. Dont forget to exolore the Hawwashi restaurant just beside the Apartment , its very famopus and recommended as the best in Egypt and my hosts are related to it. My favoured Hawwshi was the spicy one with lamb!!!
