Approx 7 miles down the coast is Aberdyfi, with a beautiful harbour, ideal for crabbing and availability of numerous watersports, surrounded by traditional buildings and quaint shops, pubs and cafes. Further up the coast is the town of Harlech with its array of antique shops, beautiful Welsh Tea Room and of course the gorgeous Harlech Castle, next door to Barmouth a busier town with another beautiful harbour. Not too far away is the market town of Dolgellau and access to the Mawddach Trail from where you can walk or cycle to Barmouth alongside the beautiful Mawddach Estuary. Coming through Machynlleth you can observe the Mach Loop, the training of the RAF operational low flying aircraft, timings are available at gov.uk. This is definitely something to be seen and heard!
The ideal place to explore this beautiful part of Eryri(Snowdonia), with gorgeous surrounds, easy access to the beach and the stunning Cadair Idris practically on your doorstep. This wasn’t an area of snowdonia I had explored before, but what a mistake, this area is beautiful! The bumblebee lodge itself was incredibly cosy and comfortable and we had a wonderful weekend hiking, exploring and cooking.
beautiful location beautiful scenery views from chalet was amazing wouldn't hesitate to recommend or come back ourselves....
Fantastic little bungalow with incredible views. The hosts were quick to respond with any questions and provided little tips and suggestions for things to do throughout my stay. The cottage was well stocked with all the essentials and the location can't be beat for that perfect little getaway.
Set in the south of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, with easy access for walking, hiking, cycling and water sports. See the heights of Snowdon, the breath-taking lake of Cadair Idris or the beauty of Dolgoch Falls. The Wales Coast Path runs right through the town and onto the beach, which is a Blue Flag Award winner. From the beach, the views are spectacular on a clear day; if visibility is good you can see as far as the Llyn Peninsula, Pwllheli and Bardsey to the north, and Fishguard and Aberystwyth to the south. The south part of the beach, which is about five miles long, has extensive sand dunes, lots of lovely firm sand, and few rocks. The open waters of Tywyn are also regularly visited by harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins. Take a trip on the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway or Fairbourne Miniature Railway, visit the Magic Lantern Cinema, Ynys Hir Wildlife Reserve or Castell y Bere or if you're into your golf Aberdovey has an 18-hole course. At King Arthur’s Labyrynth take a unique underground boat ride, through the great waterfall into a world of myths and legends. In a labyrinth of tunnels and caverns, tales of King Arthur and other ancient Welsh legends unfold. Going inland are the market towns of Dolgellau, Bala and Machynlleth with its weekly market every Wednesday. Bala is also noted for its lakes which are ideal for sailing. And you can't forget the Mach Loop, low flying RAF training, a must to see and hear! This really is a wonderful area of Wales to explore.
On site there is a swimming pool (open end May - end August) and the Clubhouse has been recently taken over and given a new lease of life, with regular events and live music, fantastic food from the restaurant or scheduled BBQs and a great bar selection alongside a pool room and table tennis room.
